Position at Wavemaker

In this position:

You’ll be a key business leader on the New Economy team, primarily responsible for leading the DoorDash account in the US on a day-to-day basis.  This is a high-profile account and role, and you’ll provide strategic leadership to maximize team performance & client results in a fast-paced environment.   You will expertly manage senior key client stakeholders and apply data, ingenuity and client feedback to exceed expectations. You’ll also manage a large team, career pathing, scope and overall financials, ensuring both team happiness and profitability. 

The ideal candidate will have experience in both client leadership and performance marketing at a senior level.  You can speak start-up / high growth language, and while you are strategic, you can get tactical at a moment’s notice. You can effectively manage clients of all types and levels.


You will be accountable for:

  • Strategy, Optimization & Execution
  • Advise on all matters that fall within scope of agency assignment
  • Act as key client contact for overall business and strategy
  • Oversee and approve recommendations & optimizations to increase media performance
  • Manage test and learn roadmap; consistently bring new and innovative opportunities to the clients
  • Assume lead role in ensuring integration of all media efforts across Wavemaker
  • Assume ultimate responsibility for all media implemented (offline, online, content, sports, partnerships)
  • Oversee responses to all requests and unforeseen problems and deal with issues that require senior level attention due to their complexity


  • Management & Leadership
  • Develop and nurture ongoing partnerships with key clients, especially at the senior level:
    • Ensure client needs are being met/exceeded
    • Lead bi-annual
  • Manage the business:
    • Create/modify scope of works
    • Team staffing & career pathing
    • Ensure profitability by managing team financials
    • Identify new services to support client and team growth
  • Support training of media staff and recommend actions to manage individual career paths
  • Train direct reports in media and marketing disciplines as well as in the specifics of the client’s business and industry, and most importantly, leadership
  • Strategize, communicate and execute staffing decisions with leadership team
  • Act with high integrity while maintaining positive, open relationships with media partners and suppliers
  • Serve as a role model to all those with whom you come into contact
  • Foster an environment that inspires, encourages intelligent risk taking, innovation and creativity
  • Keep abreast of current events in target markets that impact client’s business(es)
  • Exhibit passion and ambition by keeping informed regarding media trends, technologies and new media opportunities, and educating yourself and team accordingly
  • Participate in Agency / departmental task forces
  • Serve as a leader on the New Economy Business Leadership Team; help guide overall direction of the broader team/portfolio
  • Be an active participant in new business; grow the New Economy team with additional clients and scope

Required skills / experience:

  • 12+ years of related media/performance marketing experience and team leadership
  • Possess superior project and account management skills, flexibility, resiliency, and the ability to manage multiple expectations through proactive communication
  • Highly skilled at developing and driving media and account strategy with a focus on performance
  • Demonstrate proven success leading and growing client business; experience managing scopes and team financials
  • Consistently act as industry and agency Leader as defined via Wavemaker’s Leadership attributes
  • Appropriately and openly participate in team, agency, and industry initiatives
  • Decisively manage multidisciplinary teams, and possess a proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget
  • Continually seek and identify innovative and breakthrough ideas, approaches and solutions
  • Own and demonstrate superior understanding of media fundamentals, conceptual math, and quantitative skills, including analytical abilities and math proficiency
  • Demonstrate sharp, strategic thinking and effective problem-solving skills

  • Demonstrate genuine curiosity and interest in our clients & their business
