Position Overview

GroupM Digital Services is actively looking for a Data Scientist to join our Insights & Analytics team.

As a Data Scientist, you will support our product, account teams, and leadership with insights gained from analyzing GroupM and/or clients’ data. The ideal candidate is adept at using large data sets to find opportunities to optimize media campaign performance, product development, and process optimization. The Data Scientist will have extensive experience using a variety of data mining/data analysis methods, using a variety of data tools, building and implementing models, using/creating algorithms and creating/running simulations. They must have a proven ability to drive business results with their data-based insights. They must be comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders and functional teams. The right candidate will have a passion for discovering solutions hidden in large data sets and working with stakeholders to improve business outcomes.

  • Work with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging company data to drive business solutions and the success of media campaigns.
  • Mine and analyze data from GroupM and/or client databases to drive optimization and improvement of product development, marketing techniques and business strategies.
  • Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques.
  • Develop customized reports to track and optimize campaign performance
  • Develop custom data models and algorithms to apply to data sets.
  • Use modeling techniques to increase and optimize media performance, customer experiences, revenue generation, ad targeting and other business outcomes.
  • Develop testing frameworks and test model quality.
  • Coordinate with different functional teams to implement models and monitor outcomes.
  • Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy.
  • Develop insights and insight presentations

Essential Qualifications

  • Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on product development.
  • Possession of excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, interact with senior management and clients, understand corporate strategy, and present actionable findings
  • Understanding of online marketing, digital media, web metrics, and campaign.
  • Prior experience in analytics or marketing/consumer insights and/or a relevant start-ups, DSPs, agencies, and trading desks
  • Media Agency/ecosystem experience
  • Experience working with and creating data architectures.
  • Knowledge of and experience with a variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, etc.) and their real-world advantages/drawbacks.
  • Knowledge of and experience with advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams.
  • A drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques.
  • Familiar with the following software/tools:

o     Coding knowledge and experience with several languages: C, C++, Java,

o     JavaScript, etc.

o     Knowledge and experience in statistical and data mining techniques: GLM/Regression, Random Forest, Boosting, Trees, text mining, social network analysis, etc.

o     Experience querying databases and using statistical computer languages: R, Python, SLQ, etc.

o     Experience using web services:  AWS, GCP, or Azure

o     Experience creating and using advanced machine learning algorithms and statistics: regression, simulation, scenario analysis, modeling, clustering, decision trees, neural networks, etc.

o     Experience analyzing data from 3rd party providers: Google Campaign Manager, Google DV360, Google Analytics, Site Catalyst, Coremetrics, Adwords, Crimson Hexagon, Facebook Insights, etc.

o     Experience with distributed data/computing tools: Map/Reduce, Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Gurobi, MySQL, etc.

o     Experience visualizing/presenting data for stakeholders using: Periscope, Business Objects, Tableau, Datorama, D3, ggplot, etc

  • Advanced knowledge and proficiency in use of Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint

Highly Desired:

  • Knowledge of various measurement and campaign measurement technologies, including website traffic analytics software and ad serving platforms
  • Experience in defining/designing/building/managing performance reporting
  • Experience in digital media analytics
