Position at Wavemaker


The Financial Operations Director will lead budget and reporting management for one of the largest accounts within the agency, NNI; includes multiple brands within its umbrella. In this position, the Director will help to develop and implement on-going process improvements related to financial reportingThe ideal candidate will facilitate communication with and combined reporting for the client.  This will include being the main client POC across both Wavemaker and CMI when it comes to financial reporting and deliverables. This role also serves as system expert for the group and helping manage all our financial contracting with the clients, staffing plans and reconciliations (labor and billing).



  • Lead the Finance Operations function for NNI One, inclusive of both Wavemaker and CMI data
  • Develop a strong relationship with multiple stakeholders at NNI: Omnichannel Media, Procurement & Agency Alliance, owning the relationship with the latter two.
  • Interaction with senior team management as well as client management
  • Management of staff plans, fee and time reconciliation
  • Financial reporting for RF process both internal and external.
  • Tracking of Planned/month of service vs. purchased vs. cleared billing issued/month of invoice (normalize data where needed)
  • Tracking of planned and billed vs. PO/Authorization
  • Develop process and workflow across NNI One, contributing to accurate financial deliverables (specific deliverables noted below)
  • Ensuring that all client delivery data is efficiently produced and maintained, while enforcing accuracy in all client reporting
  • Interacting with every functional team (at all levels) within the AOR to ensure that entire group is operating as efficiently as possible
  • Working with Activation groups to manage operational capabilities and processes
  • Lead monthly billing and budget reporting with planning team
  • Coordinate with strategy team, activation teams and sister companies
  • Compile quarterly diversity and parent company spending reports
  • Provide data on sustainability efforts to NNI, working with WPP
  • Help manage SOX (rules and regulations) compliancy for overall team
  • Participate in any audits that take place
  • Provide system support and access control for Media Tools and Mediaocean
  • Support for travel and expenditure reporting
  • Maintain process/financial updates within Playbook for NNI One team
  • Manage one operations Manager



  • Bachelors degree with 10+ years media experience in planning/ buying/finance/research
  • Understanding of billing/invoicing protocols, some financial background beneficial
  • Excel expertise a MUST (SQL,pivot tables, lookups, formula creation)
  • Proven track record managing projects
  • Strong client-facing experience
  • Experience leading and collaborating across teams



  • Excellent organizational skills with time line sensitivities
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects at once
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Firm grasp of Excel and Power Point
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Comfort level managing complex processes and details
