The Associate Planner (AP) assists in the development of media plans in accordance with the objectives and strategies developed on assigned account(s); then implements the media buys (non-broadcast) and monitors and maintains the approved work.  The Associate Planner should seek broad involvement to expand his/her knowledge base and experience in preparation for a Planner position.


Your Impact:

  • Internal
    • The AP reports either to the Planner and/or the Supervisor who has responsibility for his/her assigned account(s) and may/may not work closely with the Broadcast Buying group.  The AP also has contact with the Agency Planning teams, Traffic, Operations, and Finance.
  • External
    • The AP has occasional client contact (degree/frequency varies by account)Also, as required, the AP may have contact with similar levels in other Agencies if their client has various Agencies of Record (AORs) for their businesses. 
  • Assist in the implementation of Strategy and Analysis
    • Is aware of marketing objectives and strategies for assigned client(s) and campaign(s).
    • Analyzes information relative to media planning and DR results as instructed by Planner/Supervisor.
    • Aids in Development of data required for Media Plans, results analyses, budget summaries, etc.
  • Assist in Plan Execution, Coordination, Monitoring and Analysis
    • Places orders for all non-broadcast media buys in accordance with the approved media plan.
    • Issues appropriate Broadcast Buy Authorizations if appropriate.
  • Grow Media Expertise
    • Will be trained on how to use internal media research
    • Effectively utilizes relevant computer systems
    • Expand knowledge against all types of media
    • Effectively understands and has ability to utilize ‘target’ and prior response data
  • Media Ocean OX (Media Vendor billing and paying system)
    • Effectively understands the operation of Media Ocean OX and its’ purpose within the Agency and in regards to billing clients.
