Our Portland team is the hub of the global account and part of Mindshare WW. We lead strategy, innovation, thought leadership and global partnerships. We connect to regional hubs in Amsterdam, Shanghai and Tokyo. With local teams in 36 countries around the world, we form one, connected team.



This is a leadership role in the account management and communications planning team. The Category Directors are responsible for operational delivery and project management for brand and category campaigns, coordinating with Nike media teams, functions, agencies and geos.


This role places you at the heart of the action. You will need to be a connector of people, a collaborator and tenacious in your desire to do great work.


Specifically, this role is to lead the work across one or more categories. The person will have full ownership of the projects, be a self-starter, need to know the details and inspire their teams.


The core of the role will be:



  • A key contact point for category planning as an integral part of the overall communication development at Nike.
  • Lead Key Project Management
  • Attend briefings at Nike for key campaigns and lead development of briefs for internal MS teams
  • Work closely with agency partners to ensure that media insight and realities are fully considered in the creative development process - as well as the overall communications strategy



  • Support and input analysis for the of quarterly competitive reporting
  • Lead Mindshare Team Nike Planning Product across the network
  • Manage Geo Media Landscape Overviews



  • Lead the development of Seasonal Directives for geos and Launch Overview for Nike Leadership
  • Represent geo level plans in WHQ meetings and socialize materials to relevant teams around the network
  • Manage Campaign Launch Overviews & Storytelling
  • Manage Post-Campaign Analysis (with the Exchange Team)



  • Lead the Development of monthly POV and media updates, working with the network
  • Collaborate with NYC Strategy teams and Nike to identify global partner opportunities
  • Manage partner relationships specific to category projects
  • Develop Nike specific and relevant thought pieces to impact our planning work
  • Support and lead where required Nike inspiration sessions such as the SPKRS series


The role will be based in Portland, OR and require travel to our geo hubs in New York, Amsterdam, Shanghai, Singapore and Tokyo when needed.



Ultimately, we need someone who is a world-class media professional, ideally with a record of success. Typically, they will have 10+ years of experience across multiple media markets, cultures and environments.


The right person will get how digital media fits into a broader communications framework and inherently understands our consumer because they have the same mindset.
