Regional Accounting Manager

The primary focus of this role is to oversee and analyze balance sheet accounts and their P&L impact, ensuring adherence to the appropriate application of IFRS accounting standards across the region. Additionally, the role entails direct involvement in the improvement of SOX processes and taking ownership of various auditable internal controls.   
   
Key Areas of Responsibilities:   
   
  • Balance Sheet Analysis:
    • Oversee the application of WPP group accounting guidelines (aligned with IFRS) as well as documenting key movements on all balance sheet accounts including a rigorous control on all ‘other’ accounts.
    • Provide written guidelines to the LATAM region on accounting guidelines issued by WPP. This involved liaising with GroupM Global or WPP in obtaining additional guidelines and/or exceptions.
    • Working closely with the Net Working Capital (NWC) leader in the control of key NWC accounts (MODA, Accrued Revenue, Unbilled Media, Deferred income). Including following up on aged accounts in each market.
  • Statutory Accounts:
    • Review all EFFF vs BFC reconciliation prior CFO approval.
    • Follow up with all markets in the delivery of EEFF to local authorities and maintain a log control for audit purposes.
    • Involvement in quarterly stat audit updates by external auditors, liaising with local markets for the delivery of missing information, amongst others.
  • Month-end closing process:
    • Monthly meetings including action notes and follow up.
    • Documenting all action notes and responses from markets.
  • SOX Controls (including maintaining regional excel templates used):
    • Ownership of local books to BFC regional control.
    • Ownership of balance sheet comments regional control.
    • Continuous development and implementation of procedures.
  • Adhoc projects on specific markets and / or clients will be needed, where an analysis of historical trends and accounting treatments will be required to support the Director of Finance in decision-making. This can include building and running reports in excel.

Candidate Profile:   
   
  • Certified Public Accountant with post-qualification experience of minimum 5 years.
  • Strong IFRS background with local GAAP accounting experience as a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills in both English and Spanish for ongoing contact with the Group’s global team and other Head of Departments throughout the region.
  • Good excel skills and financial modelling experience, VBA as a plus.
