Overview of role

 

We need to maximise our return out of the technology we use. Not only ad-servers and verification partners but including tag management, analytics solutions, alongside Data processing technology and Data Visualisation as well as Systems we use to operate our business effectively and efficiently to deliver Operational Excellence in 2023

 

We will need to focus on reducing rekeying and replication of data entry, improving data quality and integrity, providing Standardisation and Automation where possible and build new tools and approaches to improve our efficiency and effectiveness. 

 

A successful SAD – Discovery and Delivery will work collaboratively across all functions in the agency identifying challenges and bottlenecks building out a proof of concept to resolve the challenge, evaluated against strict criteria and then rolled out as best practice.  This will both improve our day to day working plus develop tools are commercially available for clients. Collaboration is important not only across EssenceMediacom UK but also CE, International and Global.

 

We also recognise that the industry is developing at its fastest ever pace with whole new classes of tools and systems becoming available (e.g., data clean rooms, consent management platforms, etc.) which attempt to meet the challenges imposed by changing regulations and browser controls. The Associate Director role will work within the Media Engineering group to explore, evaluate and challenge; contributing to thought pieces and acting as a go-to expert for internal and external stakeholders. 

 

This SAD role will work at harmonising the approach across all EssenceMediaCom UK OPCOS including the Media Engineering, Media Operations and Systems Intelligence teams.

You will report to the Director, Discovery & Delivery.

Measures of success

 

In three months, you would have:

 

  •        Developed strong working relationships with your stakeholders and team members. 
  • Started to build an understanding of the major systems we use to manage our business and how they can be improved. 
  •        Detail and manage ongoing projects ensuring they are on track. 
  •        Harmonise the approach across all EssenceMediacom UK.

 

 

In six months, you would have:

 

  • Built a relationship with your peers across the wider agency (including across some non-UK   markets), at Group M. 
  • Work alongside the Director – Discovery to produce a roadmap for the year with relevant prioritisation.
  • Build a bridge between the different Google areas. 
  • Maximise use of tools across the function.
  •        Provided regular status updates to senior management. 
  • Developed a good grasp of the major functions and how the various teams in the agency interact to produce best in class work. 

 

In 12 months, you would have:

 

  • Built out virtual teams using Subject Matter experts to deliver tools and products defined on the roadmap. 
  •        Be the “go-to” person in this area. 
  • Fully implemented some of the proposed technical solutions for the betterment of the business. 
  • Understood the development of the business in this area and how we can continue to improve. 
  • Maximise the development of the Google Practice.

 

Responsibilities of the role

 

  • Work closely with the wider Media Engineering team and Media Operations to ensure we roll out products and solutions that do not have a detrimental impact on all our other processes/systems 
  • Identify opportunities and challenges with Google’s Marketing Platform tools and their impact on the business and our clients.  Make sure we are using their technology appropriately and building bespoke tools on top of these platforms where there are gaps
  • Provide leadership, development, and support for any EssenceMediaCom developed tools i.e., C.L.A.I.R.E 
  • Work with Group M and across the agency to maximise benefits gained from existing systems and new functionality releases (e.g., new GMP features) 
  • Working with Google and other preferred vendors to understand, steer and provide feedback on their roadmap. 
  • Working with Trading and other teams to minimise manual work throughout the buying process, pushing and promoting programmatic/biddable ways of working
  • Understanding and challenging media owners and vendors on capabilities. Going beyond the one-pager to better understand and be able to articulate (to internal stakeholders and clients alike) the pros and cons of a wide range of technology systems
  • Ensure all third-party ad technology is effectively built onto our Google spine and way of working.
  • Integrate with GroupM UK and EssenceMediaCom Global effectively.

 

What you will need

 

  • Significant and relevant experience in a digital technology, ad operations, project management or similar role.
  • A Media Technology expert
  • A keen eye for spotting issues and developing improvements where necessary.
