Job purpose:

To support the Account Director and/ or Business Director in the day-to-day running of the Investment team, to oversee the work output of direct reports and provide training and support to direct reports (if relevant).


Relationships and Teamwork:

  • The Exchange Accountability team
  • Anticipate timelines and deadlines for providing auditor data to the Accountability team
  • Work with the Director/ Business Director to manage issues with the data itself, or any issues surrounding the supply of said auditor data
  • Client Lead teams
  • Have a broad understanding of clients’ business needs, and active campaigns
  • Be a reliable Trading contact, delivering to agreed timelines and following up requests
  • Ensure all communication with vendors or Client Lead teams embodies the Mindshare values of speed, teamwork and provocation
  • Vendors
    •   Cultivate relationships with vendors and look to ‘classify’ them into the different types
  • Immediate team
  • Ensure necessary support is given upwards and downwards
  • Clearly communicate expectations to direct reports and provide feedback with line manager where relevant
  • Ensure support is given upwards, keeping deliverables on track for deadline
  • Elevate difficult issues in a timely manner
  • Local/ regional market Trading/ Client Lead teams
  • Ensure clear and consistent communications with colleagues within local markets re. deliverables, taking into account that they have a local scope of work
  • Propose potential ways in which Mindshare WW can work more efficiently with local market teams and discuss with manager re feasibility of initiating


Principal accountabilities:

Negotiation: International Trading

-          Have a basic working knowledge of the international media landscape and key vendors.

-          Have a broad understanding of rate-card constructs and their various important elements; rates, premiums, sub-editions, discounts, agency commission payable, audience, payment terms

-          Develop relationships with Mindshare contacts at key international vendors

-          Regularly check any Insertion Orders (IOs) received from vendors and push back on any elements which are incorrect, ambiguous or missing

-          Understanding of worldwide trading revenues and benchmarking mechanics

-          Be familiar with how MediaExplorer and Prisma media booking platforms operate, and be able to book, amend or cancel bookings, as well as request the set-up of new suppliers and campaigns

-          Be familiar with MX Stats, and be able to request spend reports – both historical and future – in Excel or DDSSDX format

New Business:  Retention, Growth and Generation

-          Where needed, participate in pitches: support the Director/ Business Director, the wider central pitch team and local market trading teams by ensuring templates are completed correctly by set deadlines

-          For RFPs which require information outside of standard pricing templates, check responses from local markets to ensure that what has been provided meets what was briefed, and that no requests have been ignored or answered in an incomplete or unsatisfactory manner

Training and knowledge

-          Read key trade press to develop industry knowledge and circulate to wider team where relevant

-          Work with manager to organize internal and external market insight and trends reports into a useful and accessible format. Share with the wider team when relevant

-          Attend all training courses nominated for and work with manager to define relevant training for direct reports

-          Be proactive in attending GroupM university sessions and sharing relevant learnings with wider team where relevant

-          Take ownership of personal and professional performance and actively seek out opportunities and feedback to develop own performance

-          Seek to understand the skills of direct reports, identify gaps in the knowledge base

-          Be approachable and open with direct reports when discussing their personal and professional development objectives and raise questions to managers where needed

-          Strong organisation skills, ability to anticipate problems and propose solutions

-          Comfortable working with data and can create meaningful/ actionable insights from it

-          Multi-task as appropriate in order to keep all live projects moving forward, and not stall



-          Support team members upwards and downwards and communicate information clearly

-          Maintain communication with all stakeholders involved, updating them on progress and ensuring direct reports are working in a consistent way

-          Be able to train direct reports on reading and understanding publisher rate-cards, recording direct buys, comparing price and quality period-on-period and calculating PoP performance


-          Identify and implement ways in which internal working processes can be evolved to drive efficiency

-          Be able to construct arguments aimed at auditors and vendors which are designed to defend our position vis-à-vis media negotiation or cost benchmarking

-          Stay ahead of new industry trends and consider how they will impact our team, sharing information across the team
