Position Overview

GroupM are looking for a Data analyst to join a team who focus on the operations of key business systems in the media industry.

You will take responsibility for managing our master data set, improving business insight, creating reports, and troubleshooting data issues. To do well in this role you need a very fine eye for detail, experience as a data analyst, and deep understanding of the popular data analysis tools and databases.

Key Duties

  • Data gathering - gathering of high-quality master data fit for upload in systems and to be used as the go live master data base
  • Perform master data governance on Legacy systems, actively participate in the master data conversion and upload into the target template
  • Make sure the data is fit for purpose: data quality fit for loading, costing, order creation etc.
  • Support acceleration by suggesting, designing, maintaining tools to facilitate master data load preparation (collection speed and/or quality) and post-load checks in a structured way
  • Develop support processes and reports in keeping master data accurate and current for improving the quality and managing the protection of sensitive data and information assets
  • Develop key controls and KPIs to enforce integrity

Required Skills & Experience


  • Create output that tells the story behind the data to non-technical team members.
  • Performing ‘deep-dives’ on areas of the business to deliver insights & recommendations.
  • Presenting potential actions based on the analysis of data to business owners.
  • Work with data engineers to inform the design of a scalable data infrastructure and clean up messy data-sets.
  • Experience in gathering data input, output and integration requirements for a data project.
  • Knowledge of SQL, able to construct queries to retrieve data
  • Familiar with relational database concepts such as primary and foreign keys, referential integrity, data types, uniqueness constraints.
  • Familiar with Data Quality requirements and business rules covering uniqueness, completeness, consistency, timeliness.
  • Familiar with Data Governance concepts such as ownership and stewardship.
  • Familiar with a subset of Product, Customer, Finance or Vendor master data
  • Analytical problem-solving approach.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage an array of information and collaborate with others to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal communication skills, while working independently.
  • Able to serve as a liaison between both business and technical teams to drive effective, timely solutions.
  • Familiar with Master Data Management concepts such as matching and merging, survivorship rules, approval workflows
  • Familiarity with MDM vendors and tools.
  • Design and deliver analytics, insights, reports and dashboards to help drive business decisions and add real value.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Worked in business facing BI teams to deliver dashboards with KPI’s and metrics that drive key business insights and decisions
  • Experience with data visualisation tools like Tableau, Qlik, Looker, Data Studio, Quicksight or equivalent Strong SQL skills.
  • Awareness of data modelling techniques like dimensional modelling.
  • Knowledge of data warehouse fundamentals e.g. star schemas and dimensional modelling.
  • Awareness of cloud based data lake and data warehouse solutions like S3, Athena, Redshift, BigQuery, Snowflake or equivalent Experience in ETL orchestration tools like Airflow, Luigi, AWS Step Functions, AWS Glue Jobs etc.
  • Working knowledge of Python, Jupyter notebooks or equivalent programming language for ETL jobs
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and tools (Scrum, Jira, Bitbucket/Github)
