Objectives of the Role: 

 

The Paid Social Business Director role is focused on taking Mediacom’s Paid Social offering to the next level. They will drive Social Excellence across a portfolio of clients and contribute significantly to the growth of the Social team. To succeed they must lead a growing team of practitioners overseeing teams that handle key clients in each of their portfolios and they will be responsible for motivating and empowering a large team of people. This role is essential to not only the maintenance and growth of these clients but to the growth of the department and our paid Social offering. #Coca-Cola.

 

Each Social Business Director will lead the transformation of the department, they will drive the push to standardisation and be responsible for how we develop our product and go to market. They will lead and bring to life our different workstreams focusing on our core strategy of Repeatable Magic, Data Standardisation and Automaton. It is a multi-faceted role designed to support client needs in Paid Social while growing the Social department and ensuring integration with other media channels like Paid Search and Programmatic.

 

They are key people managers and will also be responsible for the future leaders of our Social teams and products. They will be responsible for minimising churn and hiring in the best new talent. They will be evangelists for Social both internally and externally and be key to the future growth of the international Social Department. 

 

The role is heavily responsible for growing and delivering the revenue potential of clients in the Paid Social space through the development of client roadmaps, learning agendas and the ability to support opportunities when they arise. The role also oversees the thorough commercial management of their client portfolio.

 

The right candidate has a passion for Paid Social, exudes gravitas and authority, inspires confidence in both their team and clients and is relentless in the pursuit of the Paid Social teams’ goals. They deliver messages with clarity and direction and drive the team to deliver against the agreed goals..

 

Key Areas of Responsibility and Accountability:

 

1 Strategic and Leadership Skills

  • They are a thought leader with strong market knowledge, they are abreast on the latest news, innovation and challenges in the industry and can navigate these for our clients and partners
  • Build relationships with senior figures across Mediacom and be an ambassador for Paid Social across the Mediacom network and with the industry.  They are able to clearly articulate our proposition and translate for teams, media owners and senior clients
  • Ensure business objectives are set for each client and monitor campaign performance against these objectives.
  • Oversee the team’s delivery of Social best practice and standardised execution
  • Build and maintain relationships with partners – both Media Owners and 3rd party Ad Tech solutions
  • Develop Points of View to position MediaCom as a leader in the industry and a resource for Social knowledge, contributing to department and wider agency PR and communications
  • Manage both internal and external stakeholder understanding of Paid Social through education and relevant communication

 

2.  Client Account Management

  • Take responsibility for key client #Coca-Cola relationships in their team and ensures their team are communicating clearly and managing activity to achieve the agreed KPIs
  • Ensure quality of client meetings and guide the team
  • Seek out and act upon client feedback and business changes or challenges to maintain the relevance of Social strategies
  • Identify future or required organisational changes of client or agency structure to maintain Social best practice
  • Manage team productivity

 

3.  Operating and Technical Requirements

  • Ensure the operational delivery of MediaCom’s best practise approach to Paid Social, driving consistency and standardisation in product output
  • Work with Associate Director on developing learning agendas and test & learn frameworks to drive valuable insights, and grow client investment in Social
  • Ensure robust operational process and workflow across Paid Social media advertising campaigns in line with MediaCom internal process and industry best practice
  • Identify and drive departmental initiatives to ensure the growth and evolution of the department
  • Commercial responsibility: 100% financial accountability on client’s business, including regular forecasting and tracking against set growth targets.

 

4.   People Management

  • Mentor and coach senior and top talent on the team
  • Manager a team of Associate Directors for both task and development
  • Maintain a high level of motivation of the team members, empowering them to make decisions and drive innovation
  • Manage team resourcing and staffing requirements, working with Head of Paid Social and cross-functional client leads to ensure team is the right shape and size within commercials
  • Oversee processes for new hires, promotions, salary increases, bonuses, etc.
  • Conduct 360 reviews with all direct reports and actively mentor and coach senior talent (Associate Directors) on the team.
  • Design a career path for each direct report with clear objectives and conduct performance update meetings

 

5.New business

  • Identify areas of possible business growth within existing client base, positioning new product offerings and test opportunities where relevant
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key decision makers in order to secure new business
  • Participate in new business pitches, and support new business team in developing the pitch, our approach and any work needed to deliver a win.
