DIGITAL BUSINESS DIRECTOR (Precision Lead)

We have an exciting opportunity for a Digital Business Director to join Wavemaker in our Manchester office to lead a brilliant team of display and social activation specialists as well as help the Managing Partner develop some of the UK’s best brand and ensure the very best digital strategy and activation plans.

This role will ideally suit someone with a strong display and social background and are looking for a step up into a senior digital leadership role or someone currently leading a team and looking for a fresh challenge. 

Digital Business Director Requirements:

To perform effectively, you will need to be a credible, practical advocate for digital marketing excellence across all Manchester clients. This means demonstrating the following characteristics:

  1. An operational lead capable of inspiring and managing great work from the digital activation specialists (Display, Programmatic, Social and where applicable PPC, Affiliates and SEO)
  2. A passion for team management, leading a team of up to 7 display and social specialists to ensure timely and effective responses to briefs.
  3. A detail-orientated champion for original, intelligent digital marketing work on every brief, who will work to get the best out of technology, data, audiences and activation.
  4. Able to build credible, expertise-based working relationships with senior digital marketing and media clients.
  5. Ability to work with media partners to ensure Wavemaker are at the forefront of new opportunities.
  6. An insatiable appetite for growing Digital precision, demonstrating enthusiasm, positive provocation and innovation within day-to-day work or specific Precision objectives.
  7. A pragmatist and a collaborator who can work effectively with peers to design solutions, especially Data Partners and Platform Leads within his or her client group.
  8. A good translator of strategic marketing requirements (developed by Strategy & Planning) into practical digital marketing activation plans that balance rigour, innovation and learning.
  9. Being able to identify and seek new opportunities for growth, developing and converting organic and new business proposals.
  10. A trusted adviser to the Manchester management team on how to plan, scope and run precision marketing activity, including troubleshooting and quality control.

The Digital Business Director will report into the Managing Partner of Digital in Manchester

 

Digital Planning:

Digital transformation needs focus and expertise. Responsibility for accelerating the digital maturity of our clients’ will be driven by our Digital Precision LeadsThis precision lead will work within our Manchester client group and support with:

  1. Delivering best in class display and social strategy and activation plans
  2. Driving progress against client maturity through the WM-Operating System and Precision Maturity Framework, a set of indicators and scorecards for data-driven marketing maturity.
  3. Control of the overall digital channel investment and ensures WM commercial considerations are taken into account
  4. Working with Wavemaker product owners, and with Data Partners on larger accounts, to ensure the right capabilities and technology are in place on the account to advance precision marketing.
  5. Collaboration with the Data & Tech teams, as well as identifying new opportunities to advance their clients through the suite of Precision Analytics solutions
  6. Working ‘upstream’ with Strategy & Planning to ensure outputs from Provocative Planning are translated into credible precision marketing approaches.
  7. Working ‘downstream’ with Platform Leads and leading activation teams to ensure that the digital marketing approach is activated with rigour and innovation.
  8. Ensuring that all Digital channels are fully integrated into weekly/monthly client updates and meetings
  9. Supporting a ‘fluid’ way of working with Platform activation resource across Manchester
  10. Being accountable to the Manchester management team for the timely, high-quality delivery of digital marketing across key accounts.
  11. Working on new business pitches and bringing the strongest precision solutions to our pitch RFI, RFP and presentations.

 

Responsible for Commercial Best Practice:

The Digital Precision Lead is a senior member of the Wavemaker digital community, so will naturally take responsibility for the commercial function of digital investment across Manchester. These tasks will include:

  • Overall accountability for ensuring digital team follow financial process, this includes reconciliation within the allotted window & SOX compliance for all clients within group.
  • On audited and PRF’d clients, this role takes responsibility of the necessary tracking and delivery as outlined in the client contract.
  • Working collaboratively with trading leads to deliver the agreed investment profile for your client, including the delivery of forecasts.
  • Responsibility for designing what the proprietary offering looks like for the client and being able to confidently speak to clients about the products.
  • Thinking ahead, spotting the warning signs as much as the opportunities on your clients, in turn identifying ways to protect or increase revenue and income.
