About the team and/or client

This role sits within the central finance team of GroupM UK reporting into the UK Market CFO. The role will work closely with the Central Finance team as well as the Agency Commercial Finance teams.


The Role Objective

Lead commercial insights and analysis across the GroupM UK market, having an in-depth understanding company performance


Key Responsibilities


  • Lead commercial insights and analysis across the GroupM UK market, having an in-depth understanding company performance
  • Ensure high quality and timely monthly Management Information for distribution to the GroupM Executive team and Agency Leaders
  • Develop the FP&A function and team, processes and analytical tools in use
  • Create, develop and maintain financial models to analyse results of across all operating units
  • Deliver insights that assist the business achieve strategic goals, challenging assumptions and decision making as appropriate
  • Report and analyse Net Sales (including pipeline), client profitability, margin and operating expenditure. Providing an overview of commentary verses comparable periods including, budget, prior year and prior forecast
  • Track Market performance against target metrics
  • Scenario modelling and analysis, including new product launches, Agency brands or industry trends
  • Lead the quarterly and annual forecast and budget process, communicating timely guidance to all stakeholders
  • Work closely with Agency Finance Leads understanding their risks and opportunities and impacts on the numbers
  • Work with Commercial Finance teams to forecast and budget client revenue
  • Manage, support and develop more junior members of the team to actively train and improve staff knowledge and experience
  • Drive continues change that optimises business success
  • Relationship management of key group contacts across the Agencies, GroupM UK and GroupM EMEA
  • Provide any ad-hoc reporting requested by the GroupM UK Market CFO

Skills and Behaviours



  • Fully qualified accountant or equivalent (e.g. CIMA, ACA, ACCA) Minimum 5+ years post qualification
  • Ability to coach and develop talent, bringing the best out in people
  • Ability to interpret and manipulate data in a logical manner
  • Ability to concisely and clearly present information to financial and non-financial people
  • Professionalism and pride in accuracy and on-time delivery
  • Confidence to lead on projects


  • Previous knowledge of WPP financial working practices
  • Understanding of media and communications industry
  • Commercial mindset and ability to think in an agile way
  • Previous SOX experience or equivalent
  • Proficient user of Excel, Cartesis and MediaOcean
