The Role

This role sits in Mindshare Team Ford working with GTB and other WPP companies at Sea Containers House to deliver a full service comms product to Ford covering, connections planning, CX, social strategy and deployment, analytics, CRM, PR, platform design and build, centralised biddable execution and market coordination across 19 European Markets.

The Connections Planning team is integral to the overall output of this broader group, creating connections plans that bind the channels into integrated plans and then working with the markets to deliver the best possible in market activation.

The focus of the role is not just about creating ground-breaking comms strategy and plans that optimise the consumer journey across paid, owned and earned channels, it also involves working in working partnership with the local markets to activate these plans in the most powerful way possible.



Strategy & Planning

  • Inspire strategic rigor by interrogating the brief, setting clear objectives, understanding the situational context and defining the comms challenge


  • Work closely with the audience & insight team, utilizing WPP’s audience planning platform, to isolate insights that inspire unique and insightful consumer journeys across paid, owned and earned that overcome consumers barriers to purchase


  • Develop a comms strategy that shapes the connections plan across the path to purchase in paid, owned and earned channels and inspires local markets.


Client Leadership

  • Demonstrated capability to build client trust as an advisor


Partnership & Collaboration

  • Build and establish strong relationships with specialist partner agencies (advertising, PR, social, CX) and cross functional teams to deliver on projects (e.g. platform, media, local markets, creative, audience & insight, data planning & analytics)


  • Brief and work with the specialist agencies and teams to manage the connected consumer experience across the journey and channels focusing on audience and retargeting opportunities


  • Identify opportunities for creative media ideas and ’activation innovation’ of the campaign idea, brief the specialist teams inc creative and manage output within the agency and work with markets to develop the ideas locally


  • Develop local market guidelines, brief the markets and be ready to respond to in-market dynamics by drawing up new recommendations and engaging markets as needed


  • Collaborate with local markets to activate centrally created connections plans, working with them to adapt to local market nuances to maximise effectiveness


  • Share best practice, review post campaign analysis and feed learnings into future planning and back to central agency and client


Stakeholder management

  • Ability to manage large multi-national projects from start to finish, understanding the needs and requirements of different stakeholders and delivering tailored solutions






Key Skills and Experience

  • Communications all-rounder with proven experience and strong understanding of the strengths and interplay between paid, owned and earned channels
  • Experience at creating communication strategies at a Central European level and activating within local markets, sharing best practice and evaluating post campaign results
  • Strong initiative to lead projects and inspire close working relationships with agency partners with a collaborative spirit
  • Well versed in setting and evaluating against KPI’s and interpreting brand health metrics to help inform planning and activation
  • Hands on knowledge of pulling data from audience tools, e.g. TGI, GWI, YouGov, Touchpoints
  • High level numeracy and analysis skills, to be able to interrogate data and identify actionable insights that inspire strategies
  • Passionate following of new/emerging channels & technologies 
  • Comprehensive understanding of the EMEA media and consumer landscape and local market nuances
  • Rounded knowledge of media technology and use 
  • Solid experience of working within a media buying & planning environment
  • Experience working with creative teams an advantage
