MediaCom have worked with NBCUniversal for many years and have continued to grow and evolve the relationship. The client is split across a number of business operations - Universal Theatrical (Cinema), Home Entertainment (Blu-Ray & DVD), Digital Distribution (Digital Movie Downloads & Rentals), Content Group (Digital, Blu-Ray & DVD), TV Networks (E!, SyFy & Universal Channel) & hayu (reality TV subscription VOD service). The Global team oversees local agency teams in EMEA, LATAM and APAC in over 20 countries.


The Global Account Planner will play a crucial role within the team, working specifically on hayu and TV Networks. Streaming is front of mind across the world, and this role will be part of an awesome team that drives the service forward. This is a super exciting client seeing some of the most rapid changes, evolution and innovation in the market and this role will be key in helping to drive growth in current markets, push the service into new markets, and be the support for our clients and local agency teams.


hayu first launched back in 2016, and since then has grown at a rapid pace from just 3 markets in 2016 to 20+ this year! Looking forward, there are plenty more exciting opportunities and projects we’re aiming to kick off, all of which the planner will have a key role in.


The team currently consists of a Global Account Director, Global Associate Director, and Global Digital Director, and this new role will be an essential addition. The planner will not only help the team in account management and planning, but will support future analytic workstreams, and help transform programmatic operations – super exciting times for hayu!

The Role: 


Client Management & Account Co-ordination:


  • Along with AD, key point of contact between central and local agency teams - facilitate the sharing of information between markets
  • Help review local market media plans to ensure plans are aligned with the central strategy and relevant planning tools have been used in the planning process
  • Liaise with local agency teams to collate details of local planning and implementation, post campaign reports and any adhoc client requests
  • Grow & nurture existing relationships with our clients and be visible as a key agency point-person for day-to-day account management comms.
  • Attend client meetings as required for briefing and ad-hoc projects.
  • Ensure financial accuracy through the planning and buying process, reconciliation of spends and management of budget tracker.


Research & Insight:


  • Keep up to date with developments in the media landscape for applications on Universal Pictures’ business, leaning towards streaming industry.
  • Compile research and insights to support with strategy and comms on forthcoming campaigns.
  • Gain a strong understanding with the full range of media research tools to identify audience opportunities.
  • Distribute updates/reports to the wider team and client on media developments and emerging technologies.
  • Own key workstreams including audience profiling, media landscapes, competitive analysis, and newsletters.


Tools & Systems:


  • Learn how to use GroupM and MediaCom proprietary tools and systems relevant to the account for insight, planning and finance.
  • Become a team champion for relevant industry insight and data tools (TGI, YouGov, Comscore etc.).


Skills, Behaviours and experience required:


  • Proven experience in planning and buying, preferably on a multi-market basis
  • Experience with key tools (TGI, Comscore, Addynamix, YouGov)
  • A genuine enthusiasm for the entertainment industry
  • Confident and professional with strong communications skills
  • Strong organisational skills, time management and ability to work within a team
  • Excellent attention to detail and an ability to interrogate data
  • Strong computer skills – especially Excel and PowerPoint
  • Pro-active and inquisitive – with a passion to learn and embody MediaCom’s culture
