The Team

This role sits in Team Ford within Mindshare. Working across the WPP network to deliver a full-service marketing and comms product to Ford Motor Company in Europe. This remit covers connections planning, CX, social strategy and deployment, analytics, CRM, PR, platform design and build, centralised biddable execution, and market coordination across 19 European Markets.

You will work with global and regional IT and SEO teams to coordinate best practice adherence and our collaborative culture means proactive team members are able to develop their skills in new areas with the support of specialists around them.

Job Summary

We are looking for a top-quality SEO manager to help lead the development and deployment of SEO strategy across Europe for Ford’s Customer Services Division (FCSD). FCSD manages all after-sales activities such as roadside assistance, accident management, servicing, repairs, parts and customer relationships.

You will be working into the SEO Director and Head of Biddable to help build a central search strategy for multiple markets across Europe. As the FCSD search lead you will be directly responsible for the deployment and delivery of this strategy.

The FCSD SEO Manager will also provide support to the wider search team and all other marketing channels by producing keyword analyses, recommendations documents and technical reports, and routinely dealing with SEO issues on an ad-hoc basis.

You will develop relationships with colleagues, clients and external agencies and be comfortable discussing digital issues clearly with a wide range of stakeholders on both the global and regional level.

The position will initially comprise both office and home working with office hours being approximately 2 days/week.  This may be subject to change in the future, although 100% office hours are not expected.

Responsibilities & Key Skills


  • Adhering to the principals and goals set out by the SEO Director you will be responsible for prioritising tasks and managing their delivery to achieve the forecasted search goals for key markets within Europe.
  • This will involve managing workloads, setting deadlines and training up to a consistent, high level.
  • Creating written recommendations for delivery to local agency teams, platform development and global IT teams. Including technical SEO, on page SEO and off page SEO.
  • Reporting on performance. With the help of the in-house analytics team, you will be responsible for the creation and delivery of reports on agreed dates. A good working knowledge of excel is important.
  • Forecasting. Help the SEO Director set goals and forecasts of performance for target markets.
  • You will have direct client contact and be expected to build and develop client servicing skills and strong client relationships. This includes attending and contributing to client meetings and taking part in conference calls.
  • Market communication. Dealing and setting goals for local agency contacts, managing the deployment of resources both internally and externally
  • An inspiring and effective people manager (upwards and downwards)
  • Able to recognise when senior management involvement is needed and be able to provide solid support to the agency’s senior management team

  • Attend, and contribute to, team meetings.  Raise internal issues which affect the morale or job performance of the Account Group/Agency.
  • Management and mentoring of Junior staff within the team as required
  • Willingness to undertake any other duties as may be required from time to time.

Experience required

The successful candidate must have at least three years’ experience. It is essential that the successful candidate has previous experience in technical SEO as well as on/off page SEO and is well used to working with teams, strategic planners, creative, artworkers, copywriters, technical teams and external suppliers.


Experience, Qualifications & Skills

  • Knowledge of how PPC and SEO integrate
  • Knowledge of programming languages (ideal but not required)
  • Experience of content outreach and developing blogger relationships.
  • Strong knowledge of 3rd party tools
  • Other languages a benefit but not required
