Overview of job
Planning Associate Director on Vauxhall. Vauxhall has its own dedicated Planning team with implementation and trading teams integrated across the wider PSA group (Peugeot, Citroen, DS).

Reporting of the role

This role reports into Anthony Morrison (Business Director)

Measures of success –

In three months, you would have:

  • Met and developed a relationship with your team mates. Begun forming an opinion on what’s needed to ensure a brilliant culture within the team
  • Understood the goals and development plan for the Manager, Planner and Exec in the team
  • Understood the defined account roles and responsibilities
  • Got to know the wider implementation, trading and MBA teams at MediaCom and had inductions where relevant.
  • Started to build a relationship with clients (Nicola Jenkins, in particularly).
  • Met and begun to build relationships with other partner agencies - McCann particularly
  • Gained a strong understanding about the culture and values of Vauxhall
  • Begun to form a view of how we can make best use of Systems Planning
  • Demonstrated your enthusiasm, curiosity and attention for the role.

In six months, you would have:

  • Established yourself as a trusted strategic partner for Vauxhall and embedded yourself as key point of contact for Nicola
  • Established yourself as the lead contact with partner agencies for your respective responsibilities
  • Formed an opinion on where your time be best spent and worked with the BD to update the team roles and responsibilities to reflect this
  • Presented regularly to clients over the phone and/or face to face
  • Established yourself as Planning Support for BD
  • Encouraged and inspired best use and application of Systems Planner
  • Identified training and development opportunities and attended relevant courses
  • Have a defined objectives and development plan for the next 12 months
  • Supported the Manager, Planner and Exec to develop their skills and behaviours

In 12 months, you would have:

  • Led by example; delivering brilliant planning work yourself, and inspired the team to do likewise
  • Shown yourself to be an expert in Systems Planning
  • Motivated and developed the Manager, Planner and Exec
  • Established yourself as a trusted strategic partner for your clients
  • Contributed to a strong culture in the team
  • Built strong relationships with other MC depts and participated in initiatives beyond the team e.g. working with the leadership team to improve the ‘People First’ culture across the business unit
  • Improved the commercial health of Vauxhall working closely with the BD
  • Ensured the account is in perfect financial health
  • Learnt lots, had fun and been recognised for having done fantastic work


Responsibilities of the role:

    • Embed a strong planning culture in your team
    • Be an expert in Systems Planning & an advocate of the System
    • Work with the leadership team to grow Planning at MediaCom


  • Growing our clients’ businesses:
    • Become the lead planning contact for clients, and become a trusted strategic partner
    • Lead the Systems Planning process for all client projects
    • Ensure your team are consistently delivering on the key components of great work
    • Growing our revenue streams


  • Growing our revenue streams
    • Increase revenue and profitability through active contribution to the commercial targets set for your business group
    • Ensure the account is in perfect financial health
