Role context

Wavemaker Commerce is the dedicated ecommerce consulting practice at Wavemaker. We’ve a global team of 20 experts who work with key clients developing ecommerce strategies in a holistic way. Our work touches all parts of our client organizations and is firmly entrenched in the Wavemaker products team.

The UK practice has long been seen as a leader amongst the markets, delivering varied and scaled activation and consulting projects for established organisations such as Campari group, BMW, Tiffany & Co and Xerox. Our UK practice is viewed as the template for how we roll out globally.

To set ourselves up for growth and success - servicing and delighting more clients – we’re transforming from a layered structure towards a flatter structure, with a plan in place for further headcount growth in 2022. Your input will be vital in defining our Vision, Values, Method, Obstacles and Measures and will work alongside a Director counterpart.


Areas of responsibility

Focusing on People, Performance & Product you will have the opportunity to affect positive change.

  • Lead, develop, inspire our activation executives. Championing growth in their role, be accountable for their output, the accuracy of the planning, booking, activation and optimization.
  • Ensuring best-practice activation is the norm - offering the opportunity to expand the teams’ focus within the wide-open space that is ecommerce.
  • Act as an internal subject matter expert for the wider European region on e-retail and Amazon media activation, specifically providing upskilling and pitch support.
  • Collaborate and provide specialist input into our consulting projects for Wavemaker Commerce on a local (UK), regional and global level
  • Contribute to the development of our commerce UNLOCK audit and build out a retail media representation, so that we can help our clients grow in this vital area.
  • Collaborate to continuously improve our offering for the clients: e.g.. identifying industry trends, develop clearly articulated and competitive consulting solutions
  • Co-Manage Wavemaker’s relationship at large with Criteo and CitrusAds, and subsequently with the grocers and retailers with your Director counterparts.
  • Lead strategy engagements that focus on retail media, especially for our FMCG client base
  • Actively contribute to the ecomSquad and / or the divisions within so that we can continue to drive what has been called out as a smart representation of the commerce landscape
  • Provide support on product development. Identify areas to further bolster our agency IP and support in the development of proprietary products for social commerce, and last-milers; complimenting existing Amazon tool-set


Looking forward

You will move from being active in the retail media space with hands on keyboard experience, responsible for actively managing end to end paid media campaigns with the Criteo and CitrusAds platforms, and you will move towards being an ecommerce specialist with deep rooted retail media expertise, with a remit and freedom to roam the full breadth of ecommerce. Alongside retail media, we will be looking to you, to collaborate and define the agency way of working with global platforms such as Amazon, alongside supporting on client specific Direct-To-consumer engagements.


About you


With proven experience in a similar role, you’ll also be confident in the following technical capacity:


  • Retail media Activation – You’ll have knowledge and capabilities of paid media opportunities within the retail media ecosystem, and you will leverage that to advance our wider team and agency learning and development through to the creation & delivery of consultancy that are layered with technical know how


  • Having a Point of View – You’ll demonstrate the capability to develop a POV on technical and sectoral issues 
    • Unlocking colleague and client conversations that lead to client and business growth.


  • Proven experience with data and analytics – You’ll demonstrate competence and confidence in working with data
    • Spotting time-saving efficiencies through to advanced insights being surfaced for our clients.


  • Communication – You’ll demonstrate how our Vision, Values and Product’s can be communicated with clarity and impact both internally and externally.


  • Client leadership – Confidence and ability to work independently with clients, write client facing presentations and present accordingly through to identifying issues and escalating and / or resolving as necessary.


  • Amazon – as the global leader for commerce, an understanding of Amazon, Amazon activation and commerce opportunities would be an advantage as this will allow for shared responsibility in this space. If this skillset is not native to you, that is ok, we will be looking to you for a hunger and passion to learn and apply your new knowledge to support in the development of our retail consulting practice.
