We are a modular agency of specialists in deploying media, content and technology.  WM Media is a high-performance digitally-first unit made up of experts across all Video, Audio, Out of Home, Print and Regional platforms and channels. 

Wavemaker Play is our centre of excellence for planning, precision, creative, media and strategy, dedicated to Entertainment and lifestyle clients. Our dedicated team of cross discipline specialists is set up to service and deliver full-funnel marketing to leading Entertainment category brands such as Paramount Pictures, Paramount +, Netflix, MGA, Ubisoft and Viacom CBS.

The AV Lead is the agency Entertainment expert across AV, sitting within Play.  The AV Lead curates robust and credible AV strategies across their portfolio of clients which enable us to deliver commercial growth whilst all the while ensuring we deliver client PRFs/guarantees.  They have a thorough commercial understanding of their client business and a technical expertise to maximise opportunities to deliver client PRF/guarantees.   The AV Lead will demonstrate excellent strategic planning capabilities with detailed operational understanding of our tools and products. The AV Lead will establish collaborative relationships across the agency working closely with Client and Precision Leads actively seeking creative and innovative media solutions, and build strong relationships with their portfolio of clients to ensure they have a trusted point person. 

The AV Lead is responsible for the pastoral care of a wide team (AD, AM and AE).  They will ensure every member of their team has a clear progression roadmap, reviewing on an on-going basis their objectives and development.  They will continuously ensure their team feel inspired and motivated and that they are working towards both client and departmental goals.  They are responsible for creating an ambitious, collaborative and positive culture ensuring ongoing productivity across the team. 

A significant part of the AV Lead role will be tailored towards a non-client focus area within the department.  They will work closely with the Dept Lead to set the agenda for this focus area ensuring it ladders up to our overall WM Media ambitions.  They will be responsible for promoting this focus area across the department, wider agency and external stakeholders.  

 Core Responsibilities: 

  1. Client servicing
  • You will have a strong working relationship. You are someone they trust and know they can count on to always deliver great results.
  • Clients will see you as the AV expert and value your opinion and guidance at a senior level.
  • You will be a key point person for escalation of issues and bigger proposals – you will be a strong project manager and able to prioritise and manage responses within the fast-paced world of Ents.
  • You have established collaborative relationships across the agency working closely with Client Leads on your accounts, actively seeking creative and innovative media solutions. 
  1. Campaign Management, Performance & Commercial
  • Responsible for the PRF delivery across client patch. Understand your PRFs/guarantees and any contractual bonus/malice schemes through working closely with the commercial team. You will set up clear and defined lines of reporting across your team/teams so that you are always confident of your PRF position.
  • Lead your team to ensure all buying metrics are hit and delivery is controlled, with admin across buying, forecasts and billing always up to date and accurate. 
  • Responsible for ensuring team have booked and managed the billing process correctly to ensure accurate third party Media Audit delivery in the AV space (Concise, PWC).
  • You will understand how to maximise the deals and incorporate them into day to day buying. You will be an expert across all WM and GroupM deal parameters – knowing how to maximise value and any constraints/considerations when dealing with non-spot initiatives.
  • Responsible for calculating client value requirements across different PRF models and liaise with trading team to manage this value.
  • Ensure all trading issues are managed and escalated if required to GM. 
  1. Team Management
  • You should lead and create a team environment that is both inspiring and hardworking recognizing abilities within your team and providing support and leadership where necessary.
  • Responsible for managing all levels from AE, AM to AD.  Set and monitor objectives for AE, AM and AD to ensure your team have clear goals and a progression roadmap.
  • Manage and provide solutions around conduct and any conflict issues within the team. Ensure serious matters are escalated.
  • Responsible for cascading information to team through regular team and individual catch ups. 
  1. AV Strategy and Planning
  • You have full responsibility for the quality of your team’s output. This should be best in class and always looking to improve the standard of response by showcasing WM tools and incorporating new trends/products – all structured to answer the brief with a clear rationale. 
  • You will be hungry to find innovative and creative solutions to inspire and excite your clients.
  • You will ensure your team have been given the required information to respond with clear KPIs always set and have the support to challenge briefs where required.
  • You will be responsible for ensuring there is a clear strategy for the implementation of commercial requirements through our planning.
  • Become an expert in all WM Media tools and systems, able to use and explain their use with clarity.
  • Participate in WM new business pitches, creating a meaningful and credible AV story alongside senior support. Present in new business/incumbent pitches when required. 

Non-client focus

  • Set and lead the agenda for your non-client focus with a supporting team working closely with the Department Lead to create a departmental road map for agency/clients
  • Here your energy and commitment will be needed to move this area forward by challenging what we do and looking for new initiatives to improve quality and efficiency within AV.
  • Produce internal and external comms on your focus area working with marketing and collaboration board where appropriate.
  • Be constantly up to date with market and product development within your focus through strong industry and MO relationships at a senior level
  • Become figurehead/champion known within the agency for this responsibility
