About the team

GroupM provides products and services to the GroupM agencies. These range from technology solutions through to training programmes. Conceptually the GroupM team exists to facilitate efficiencies in the Agencies themselves and provide thought leadership to them.

The Media Team is one of the core units in GroupM with a primary focus on the digital space. Teams within this department drive strategies, technology innovation, efficiency and new revenue across the digital environment working closely with the different Agency teams. The core aim is to allow agencies to have their individual USPs whilst using the size and buying power of the combined group to drive more cost-effective and better managed deals.

The Media Team is an extension of trading. It services the media needs of trading companies like Xaxis, Amobee, Finecast and Programmatic Services. This group use the size and reach of the trading desks buys to negotiate the best terms with all media partners (publishers) to drive media strategy for each unit (and the advertisers they service). This is across video, display, native, and includes executional practise via programmatic guaranteed.

The Role Objective

This role will sit within the GroupM Media Video team; responsible for supply management for the Finecast and TAPL demand portfolio with a focus on CTV, broadcast and premium publisher video. They will be experts in this area; understanding the nuances between formats, devices and volume constraints in this area and be able to communicate internally and externally.

The ideal candidate will be a confident communicator – a person with strong analytical and negotiation skills who is able to identify potential obstacles and opportunities and challenge for a positive outcome. The candidate will have a proven history in building relationships with key publishers.

The role supports and interlinks into multiple functions in the media team and across GroupM buying units across business development, trading, analyst and commercial operations. The Video Investment Manager will report into the Head of Video Investment and will be in regular contact with senior leadership in Product and Trading teams.

The ideal candidate will have worked within video portfolio management in the AV, digital or programmatic space; either within agency Investment (buying) teams with experience in the overall buying, deal management and auditing process of Linear TV & Video or Publisher supply management; specialising within Broadcast and Premium Video.

They will have a strong understanding of the market both commercially and technically; with the ability to explain the various companies that operate in the space from BVOD, SSPs to Ad exchanges, DSPs and Ad Networks. They will have a solid understanding of the impact on supply of certain requirements on inventory including VPAID, viewability, CTR, VTR, AVOC and understand tagging/reporting limitations these may impose by supplier.



Responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility for allocating and managing supply at publisher level based on demand requirements
  • Tracking delivery versus key deals and forecasting future laydown and allocation based on historical analysis and information provided from business units
  • Negotiation over volumes and technical requirements with key publishers
  • Contribution to performance monitoring, identifying and implementing enhancements, issue identification and escalation
  • Support delivery and management of commercial product and project objectives and strategy across internal buying units and external publisher and technology partnerships
  • Spend and delivery reconciliation across the year/deal period
  • Provide inputs and thought leadership around demand and supply portfolio, including requirements for success and optimal use of the technology Group M use
  • Produce weekly, monthly and quarterly performance analysis and report back to senior leadership across Group M trading and Business Units.
  • Help determine publisher selection, pricing and volume
  • Produce regular recommendations on how campaign strategy should be amended for future bookings
  • Management of two direct reports: setting and monitoring progression against KPIs, workloads, training and support.
