About Finecast


GroupM, the media investment group of WPP, launched Finecast in September 2017, delivering precision and accountability to advertising on the most powerful advertising and branding medium - Television.


As TV audiences fragment across a range of platforms and as viewing behaviours evolve, TV advertisers are grappling with how to continue making best use of their most trusted medium. Finecast was created to help solve this challenge.


Finecast enables advertisers to precision-target viewers across multiple on demand, linear and live streaming TV environments. It helps advertisers address hard-to-reach TV viewers through a single access point with standardised measurement. All Finecast campaigns are inherently viewable, running on TV screens within high-quality, brand-safe content with no ad blocking.


Each Finecast campaign is custom built around the advertiser’s audience target or response objective for TV campaigns and provides a more targeted and faster path to market than traditional linear TV advertising.



About the team


The team is made up of an expanding team of 100+ (growing to over 150+ in 2021) spanning Engagement, Operations, Client Services, Marketing, Business Operations, Finance and Product, Data & Analytics functions.

Role Objectives


Finecast is currently live in six markets - UK, Australia, USA, Canada, Germany and Indonesia with a number of new market launches planned for Q1/Q2 2021.


The Global Market Development Director will work alongside the Global Chief Growth Officer to deliver on the Finecast vision to drive market expansion through the identification of viable and sustainable commercial opportunities.


There will be three core areas of focus;


1)       Ensuring launch markets are set up successfully from a client positioning perspective and inline with the strategic direction of Finecast.


2)       Working concurrently with ‘developed’ markets to execute annual client and vendor growth strategies that continuously position Finecast on the global stage as a leader in the future of television.


3)       Working alongside the Global Growth team in the development of a global client growth strategy, including but not exhaustive of the creation of a global client planning/execution framework that targets GroupM.



These three core areas of focus will include:


  • Pivotal to all market launches, ensuring that Finecast growth aspirations are delivered inline with the global expansion strategy.
  • Work alongside the Global CGO to execute commercial strategies that enable all Finecast markets to scale by year 2/3. Achieved via the development of a collaborative, go to market partnership approach.
  • Integral to ensuring that the Finecast business strategy is front and centre at launch, and that all Finecast teams scale in line with the core principles of the Finecast model.
  • To play a key role in global client pitches – ensuring that Finecast is represented as a leader in the future of television within all pitch scenarios.
  • Work with key stakeholders across all of GroupM’s individual agency brands – ensuring that the Finecast proposition is both fully understood and embedded at a client team level.
  • Work collaboratively and closely with the Finecast product team and the Global CGO to identify commercial opportunity within key territories that position Finecast as a key Media and Technology partner.
  • Influence market agency leaders in order to define and execute annual commercial growth strategies that drive margin and profit growth for Finecast and GroupM.
  • Work with the Global CGO to develop a Global plan to achieve sales team expansion beyond GroupM clients. Including, but not exhaustive of the following;


  • The creation of a commercial sales model for a Pan Regional sales team, including the identification and application of best in class Pan Regional commercial sales/product/vendor strategies.
  • Input into a business case focused on growth within our top 20/30 clients across the globe.
  • Develop a robust approach to the launch of a global non GroupM client growth strategy (including all non Groupm, WPP agencies – AKQA etc).

          Represent Finecast at global and local market events (in collaboration with the Finecast exec team), delivering thought leadership on a global stage and bringing Finecast to the fore of Global client conversations.


Candidate Requirements


The ideal candidate will have a strong working knowledge of the TV advertising industry as well as the media agency landscape.

They will have strong experience in launching products or services into new markets; developing initial launch strategies as well as future annual growth strategies, to ensure continued scalability and commercial growth. The market Development Director should be focused on working with the Global CGO and individual markets to build and enhance the Finecast product in order to maintain its lead role in the future of television, whilst supporting markets to maintain launch momentum into years two and beyond.


They will have experience in working with key stakeholder groups to educate them in positioning a new service or product as part of their wider media mix.


This person will play a fundamental role in developing senior stakeholder relationships across GroupM and our agencies, working across different countries and cultures and having the ability to artilcutae the sophisticated into the simple.

Ideally the candidate will have experience in multiple markets.


Special attention will be given to the applicant’s experience and commitment to all factors that directly impact building and leading high-performing teams, driving revenue growth strategies and creating an environment that enables best in class client work.


Extra consideration will be paid to those that have built and/or transformed sales teams in the early stages of a company’s growth. Ideal candidates will have been a key contributor in building a repeatable and predictable revenue growth engine over time.
