About the team

The GroupM Payroll Team was set up in 2016 by merging the Payroll and Benefits teams from the GroupM operating companies.  We are a team of seven working closely with the Finance and HR teams from the operating companies to process the payroll and benefits for circa 4,000 group employees. 


The Role Objective

Under the direction of the Payroll and Benefits Managers the Payroll Assistant will be responsible for helping to process all aspects of GroupM payrolls to ensure that c. 4,500 employees are paid accurately and on time.  

Responsibilities

  • Help process the monthly payrolls for c. 4,500 employees using the ADP Freedom (soon to be SD Worx) system in conjunction with ADP managed services to the strict payroll deadline.
  • Dealing with joiners, leavers, salary increases, maternity pay and other typical payroll tasks.
  • Once up to speed to be able to respond to and resolve payroll queries to a satisfactory conclusion from employees and managers, referring to ADP where necessary.
  • Help employees with payslip self-service issues.
  • Run various monthly reports for different stakeholders.
  • To understand how employee benefits including Bupa, Life Assurance and PHI, season ticket loans and Smart Shopper work in conjunction with Payroll.
  • Process pension contributions and ensure these are paid over to the pension provider.Liaise with Payroll and Benefits Manager and ADP regarding all payroll Set-up Changes (e.g. new payroll, new depts. /cost centre, earnings etc.).
  • Liaise with Payroll and Benefits Manager and Finance to complete ad-hoc information requests.
  • Be a point of contact for auditors and provide any necessary payroll information.
  • Work with other members of the Payroll and Benefits team to assist in getting payrolls processed for the GroupM Operating Companies if and when the need arises.

Skills, Behaviours and Experience

  • Attention to detail and high degree of accuracy is essential.
  • Strong IT skills, e.g. competent using Microsoft office programmes.
  • Methodical approach with the ability to multitask and work in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to prioritise workload to meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information in an appropriate manner
  • Ability to take ownership of a problem and find a resolution and escalate it as appropriate
