Role context:

International Airlines Group has been a Wavemaker client since 2017. Within this holding company we look after several brands; British Airways, IAG Loyalty, LEVEL, IAG Cargo. 


This role will be within Team Horizon, a fully integrated team made up of specialists from media (Wavemaker), creative (Ogilvy) and production (Hogarth). We deliver campaigns for IAG across 10+ markets spanning the full media mix. It is an unrivalled opportunity to work in WPP’s most integrated team.


As an AM on Team Horizon you will have the specific responsibility for leading the day-to-day across a number of IAG campaigns, with support from the Account Director.


This is an exciting, fast paced role which will allow you to accelerate your media craft in a broad scope of disciplines whilst also growing your knowledge across the full comms mix.


You will be responsible for leading campaigns, the media approach and integrated response alongside your counterpart from the creative side of the team. We are working in an agile way where media insight helps directly inform the overall comms direction and leads to truly integrated work.


Through your excellent communication skills you will be expected to build strong relationships with numerous stakeholders both internally within Team Horizon and externally as you will become the key client contact and trusted advisor on your brands.

Core responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning output for your assigned campaigns


  • Ensuring strategic approach and insight, innovative thinking and rigour of methodology


  • Prioritising across multiple campaign demands


  • Collaborative approach leading the integrated comms plan across media, creative and production


  • Project management and coordinating multiple stakeholders in respect of agreed timelines


Your primary task is to manage the campaigns that you work on, leading the media response with a strong desire to deliver the best work possible, with accuracy of detail and a well thought out opinion and recommendation.


The Account Manager has the opportunity to lead campaign planning for both UK and International briefs, with support from the Account Director, on day to day campaigns. They will distil and challenge client briefs and take a lead role in combination with the AD/BD and wider Horizon team to come up with effective communications strategy. This role requires a strong combination of leadership, communication, and organisation skills, as well as thorough media knowledge across both on and offline channels. Coaching and contributing to the development of the junior team, is a core responsibility.


Your role will involve consumer insight, strategic and implementational media planning and, crucially, client handling and account management.


The ideal candidate will have the ability to lead small to medium sized campaigns independently, whilst managing other specialist teams within the wider team Horizon to ensure true integration. The ideal candidate would be an experienced manager, who is able to be proactive and willing to develop and implement innovative media solutions.


The Account Manager will need to be confident in their approach and recommended plans and be ready to support them and present them confidently in front of a variety of stakeholders.


We are seen by the clients as an extension of their marketing team and therefore the development of trusted client relationships is imperative, being able to demonstrate to the client a thorough understanding of their business to land key recommendations.
