About the team and/or client

The GroupM University (Learning & Development function) is centre of learning excellence serving our GroupM talent as well as our operating companies where we aim to set, and share, the best practice learning and development standards for the Group.  We are a resource that all employees have access to at any time to secure both online and classroom-based learning on a vast array of subjects.  We act as a coordinator for our own talented experts across the operating companies, harnessing their knowledge to keep ahead of the industry changes.

The Role Objective

The focus for this role will be to support the GroupM University delivery team with the graphic design of learning content, and to assist the growth of our synchronous and asynchronous presence across business systems and media skills. The role will need to collaborate on projects and work with key stakeholders to assess appropriate design needs and then develop and produce professional and engaging online and printed content for a large internal audience, sometimes global.

This role, whilst reporting to the Senior L&D Manager, will have a dotted line to our Senior Creative Executive and will be responsible for the design and development of L&D supporting materials – mostly through graphic design - creating high quality content that engages and brings the creative strategy to life.  They will be responsible for producing content to support all areas of the GMU including, but not limited to emails, posters, booklets, documents, PowerPoint decks, animation, video, guides, checklists and other learning interventions, maintaining brand consistency and GMU tone of voice. 


  • Enhance learning materials and design new learning content using Adobe tools, providing samples, options, and demos as required.
  • Build strong working relationships and work with subject matter experts (SMEs) to understand requirements and determine suitable solutions that are aligned closely to the needs of the business, managing expectations where appropriate.
  • Advise and challenge SMEs with helpful content considerations.
  • Showcase, inform, educate and inspire across all areas of GMU learning solutions. 
  • Support team members with timely, innovative, and engaging assets and solutions.
  • Champion the use of both online and offline supporting material across the company.
  • Ensure all work produced is of a consistently high quality and is to brand guidelines.
  • Work collaboratively with the team, maintaining processes and procedures.
  • Handle all digital assets as appropriate e.g., compressing, encoding, and storing media.
  • Represent GMU as a brand ambassador by fully understanding each area of the L&D function and being able to articulately describe our purpose and value.
  • Keep on top of all projects and tasks associated with the ‘Creative’ function and ensure deadlines are met and quality and output are appropriate.
  • Stay up to date on best practices and tools in digital design and content space and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Assist Senior L&D Manager (online) and Head of L&D with any other projects and task as required.

Skills and Behaviours

The role holder will be experienced in using graphic design and editing tools and will have a basic understanding of instructional design, as well as the end-to-end learning cycle with an emphasis on blended learning.

They will be comfortable working across several projects at the same time, managing their time efficiently and prioritising as appropriate. The role holder will have strong communication, organisational and project management skills, with a keen eye and exceptional attention to detail.  They will have the ability and desire to produce quality work in a fast-paced environment and will be comfortable with ambiguity and have confidence to troubleshoot technical issues.

The role holder will need to display gravitas and confidence when communicating with stakeholders and subject matter experts at all levels.   Strong interpersonal skills, a flexible can-do work ethic and a good sense of humour and fun is essential but with the ability to remain focussed and maintain momentum to achieve objectives and desired results.

Experience Preferred

  • A proven flair for graphic design and digital illustration
  • Confident using Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator – and ideally After Effects and Premiere Pro
  • Experience using instructional design techniques to design effective learning content
  • Strong project management skills
  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Analytical, structured thinker with a strong attention to detail
