Role: Financial Controller, Nexus EMEA

Reports to: Finance Director, Nexus EMEA

 

Position Overview

 

GroupM Nexus is actively looking for a committed and enthusiastic finance professional to lead the development of the Nexus EMEA HQ finance department in the role of Financial Controller, EMEA (“Controller”). The Controller is responsible for the accurate and timely financial reporting; improving and maintaining a robust and efficient finance reporting process; managing and developing members of the finance team to ensure better fulfilment of the business requirements and development of detailed business insights as the FP&A lead.

 

Core Responsibilities

 

  • Preparation of monthly reporting pack across Nexus EMEA network for management to review, including commentary
  • Sign-off on HQ month end closing, variance analysis and reporting
  • Ensure integrity of the HQ monthly/forecast/budget figures
  • Ensure integrity of the HQ balance sheet
  • Partnering with the local country finance function, gaining in-depth knowledge of country issues, developing strong relationships and assisting with submissions
  • Detailed review of trading revenue and margin results, and provision of commentary on variances to budget/forecast/prior year
  • Analyse, maintain, and constantly strive to improve financial reporting processes
  • Responsible for the input and data extraction for reporting, forecasting and accounting purposes in Cartesis/DDS.
  • Direct line management responsibility for the development, training and improving knowledge of the Management Accountant
  • Build out consistent business insights as the lead of the FP&A function
  • Provide support and keep the Finance Director updated on all matters of significance
  • Ownership of HQ SOX compliance and controls
  • Lead and fulfil the annual audit and stats pack
  • Oversee the annual service fees and recharge model
  • Monthly payroll review and employee remuneration matters
  • Ad-hoc finance and project related duties

Professional Experience / Capabilities

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • Experience of working in a commercial finance role
  • Team Management and leadership skills
  • Effective financial modelling
  • Strong operational awareness
  • Proficient user of Cartesis/DDS desirable for the role - inputting and data extracting for reports and management packs
  • Ability to explain complex accountancy practices to finance and non-finance stakeholders
  • Advanced user of Excel and proficient in other MS Office applications
  • Prior experience in the advertising / media sector preferable
