Role purpose:

A role exists within Mindshare Outcomes within a growing Paid Search specialist team. We are looking for an experienced Paid Search Director who will play an instrumental role in further developing our offering by taking ownership of the ongoing client engagement and support the Business Director to implement the strategic vision of the account and team. The role will require collaboration with the wider team and different disciplines; Market Coordination, Live Planning, Analytics, Audience & Insights team and Technical/creative production.

Ford is WPP’s largest client and as such gets significant focus from multiple operating companies and teams within WPP. These teams, dedicated to the Ford account are brought together under the WPP | Ford banner which also has its own management structure. The team deliver a full-service comms product to Ford including but not limited to connections planning, CX, social strategy and deployment, analytics, production CRM, PR, platform design and build, media buying, centralised biddable execution and market coordination across 19 European Markets.


All media activity for Ford is run out of the Mindshare team with support from GroupM. The team sits within the wider Mindshare Worldwide Outcomes team that manages multiple clients. However, being a dedicated team, it works in a semi-autonomous way. Allowing us to deliver most effectively for the client via wider WPP collaboration as well as call on the best of Mindshare for support and career growth.

The Outcomes team spans strategy, planning, buying and optimisation of all of Ford’s biddable media budget in Europe. Within Outcomes, a test and learn Digital Optimisation workstream has led a multi-disciplined team across Mindshare, Xaxis and VMLY&R for several years, ideating and testing pilot hypotheses across biddable channels to drive digital media effectiveness. Establishing “Golden Rules” from successful pilots, implementing best practice and scaling across Europe to deliver incremental media value to Ford.

The Role

We are looking for an Account Director with knowledge of Paid Search, specifically Shopping/Ecomm to work on the burgeoning FCSD aftersales division of Ford Motor Company. This role will assume overall responsibility for the digital marketing of the e-commerce side of the business. Working with the European team to plan, activate and scale across ecommerce channels.

You will own the day-to-day relationship with the FCSD client lead across the ecommerce division. Alongside the team you will take responsibility for the overall delivery against agreed objectives as well as the planning for these.

Good interpersonal skills are essential as well as the ability to manage projects effectively. This area of the business is growing quickly, and you will need good business acumen to assist in this as well as grow the Mindshare team alongside this. A strong working knowledge of activation (within ecommerce) is highly desirable and a desire to get involved in planning and day to day management is essential.

Client Leadership & Day to day

  • Overall responsibility for the London FCSD relationship
  • Lead through expertise. Be patient and resilient
  • Proven experience in working effectively across biddable channels.
  • Planning for ecommerce channels


  • Experience across Biddable activation, strategy including team management. Or strong account management background with a focus on digital.
  • Past experience on Paid Search including Shopping campaigns, eBay, Amazon
  • Ability to demonstrate lateral thinking and previous success in introducing new initiatives to clients.
  • Creativity for story ideation on CRM – eye for detail
  • Project coordination – working to fluid deadlines and briefs
