Role context

Live Planning is looking for an established Business Director with digital experience to join our team. This role provides the opportunity for the right candidate to be the lead client contact, with support from a more senior mentor within the team.

Live Planning was created 4 years ago to ensure each client has a clear outcomes-driven approach, audience and measurement framework. Live Planners are involved throughout the planning process to ensure that plans are optimised holistically across all channels to ensure the overall delivery of clients’ business outcomes.

Our clients cover Retail, FMCG, Finance and Government.

About you

To be successful in this role, you’ll be able to demonstrate:

  • A digital background with proven experience and deep understanding of at least one digital media channel. Cross channel experience is desirable.
  • Hands on knowledge of tools such as TGI/YouGov, Google Analytics, search trends, ad servers (e.g. Doubleclick), social analytics (eg. BrandWatch), data visualisation (eg PowerBi, Tableau) & analysis tools
  • Excited about of new/emerging channels & technologies and analysing what they can offer different businesses
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, being able to confidently and clearly present work to clients, media owners and internal stakeholders. Confidence to ‘fly solo’ & present to mid to senior weight clients
  • High numerate with strong analytical skills, to be able to interrogate data and come up with actionable insights to inform business decisions
  • Team management experience and ability to communicate/share/develop digital planning and buying experience amongst other team members
  • Passion for learning, curious in nature and happy in challenging the status quo

About the role

On a day-to-day basis, the job can involve a variety of tasks from digital performance planning, measurement planning and test and learn design and management, working collaboratively with people across the agency (planning/analytics/buying teams) and externally (clients, suppliers) to deliver valuable insights to inform decisions and ultimately lead to improved client business outcomes.  You’ll also:

  • Build & establish strong relationships with the client, creative partners as well as internally, across the Mindshare digital, planning and marketing science teams
  • Work with investment teams to forge and maintain relationships with key strategic media partners to ensure that we are fully embracing new media, technology and data opportunities as they emerge
  • Proactively identify business development opportunities and contribute to ideas that will unlock more value for both Mindshare and the client business
  • Develop a deep understanding of the client’s business and the digital landscape to deliver insight led communications advice, strategies and high level plans to clients
  • Explain strategic and activation recommendations based on media owner’s opportunities and innovations to the client and work with the various specialists teams to ensure effective implementation
  • Direct contact for client digital teams as communicator of all digital projects, enabling digital specialists to increase their communication and impact with client teams
  • From time to time you may lead the digital responses for our new business and pitch work
  • Ensure all KPIs are clearly defined in a way that can be measured and tracked back to a business outcome
  • Set a measurement and testing framework to facilitate continuous learning that can be deployed in planning or buying
  • Agree reporting infrastructure, that is appropriate to support the measurement and testing framework
  • Develop client playbooks with delivery teams to ensure successful tests are recorded and acted upon in future activity
  • Work with the marketing science team to derive insights through meta-analysis of results

  • Define and drive client business outcomes as key owner of the performance plan
  • Ensure the provision of robust measurement across all areas of the plan
  • Ensure that outcomes are always delivered and improved on
