Description of the role   

Platforms are a part of almost every media plan yet our expertise as an agency goes beyond media planning. We believe growth is achieved through wholistic eco-system planning across paid, owned, earned and shared.  

This role will play a function across the Consultancy Community and Global Investment Team, working closely with our top global partners and client leads to develop partnership initiatives and identify opportunities for transformative growth, with a keen focus on influencer. This person will ideate, design and build programs with partners and key stakeholders within our business to unlock meaningful and transformative value to strengthen brands, enhance experiences and positively provoke growth for Wavemaker and our clients; ensuring we are viewed as progressive by clients and vendors alike and partner resources are deployed to the best effect for Wavemaker.   

Driving the client dialogue, this person will demonstrate knowledge and leadership of the specialist platform practice within the agency by developing platform and influencer solutions powered through partnerships to enable growth, with both external vendors and internal entities such as GOAT, Ogilvy, Hogarth and Motion Entertainment.   

Reports to: Global Head of Innovation & Platforms  

Based: London with global travel as required  

Role Responsibilities:  

As Global Platform & Influencer Lead, you will:   

  • Have understanding of changing consumer behaviours and the emerging technologies & platforms which are driving them
  • Develop our industry leading point of view on influencer marketing and the role influencers / creators / KOLs play across the entire purchase journey
  • Lead the global agency relationship with platform partners and take responsibility for building out new, innovative, and exclusive partnerships for our top global clients. Partnerships with platforms are integral to our offering for global clients, ensuring that our clients maximise the value of their investment and get the best of Wavemaker across every market.
  • Have a world class understanding of platform opportunities across paid, owned and earned and ability to navigate client conversations beyond ‘the feed’ across a brand ecosystem.
  • Look left and right to build transformational growth consulting opportunities with key partners across eCommerce, gaming, sports, data & technology, measurement and applied innovation
  • Work with all disciplines within Wavemaker, but in particularly close collaboration with specialists in Client Leadership, Strategy, Investment and Analytics & Insights to operationalize and drive a culture of innovation and platform excellence.
  • Lead the global Goat relationship, with responsibility for supporting Goat in achieving financial targets.
  • Amplify relevant GroupM and WPP wide partnership benefits to ensure Wavemaker take advantage and unlocks unfair advantage for our clients.
  • Support global new business goals by showcasing the partnership offering on key pitches as required
  • Develop and roll out new platform products to global markets with clear commercial model (including opportunities built with GroupM partners)
  • Utilize our global network to ensure platform offering is at the forefront of media creativity and brand experience

   

Required Experience & skills   

Bringing inspiration, energy and entrepreneurialism to the role in addition to the following skills, experience and attributes:  

  • 10+ years’ experience
  • World class expertise and previous activation experience with key community/social platforms (TikTok, Instagram & Facebook, Snap, YouTube)
  • Deep knowledge of technology, marketing and communications to apply innovation into overall marketing strategy.
  • A strong capability to capture insights from observations or trends in platforms pertaining to society & culture to translate into innovation and platform strategies.
  • Excellent client relationship skills with the ability to communicate complexity across multiple geographies and cultures
  • Insatiable curiosity on the future of platforms and world class knowledge of platform formats, features and opportunities
  • Ability to collaborate with internal teams using a persuasive, professional and confident approach to all engagement
  • Entrepreneurial with a self-starter mentality and reliability and responsibility for running specialist practice
