Account Director – Paid Search  

This is a terrific opportunity for an ambitious Account Director to help lead biddable (Google Ads, Amazon Ads) activity across UKI for a household-name FMCG brand. The client is one of the agency’s largest and fastest growing, so we need a strategic and numbers-driven leader, able to build up a quick rapport with all stakeholders. This role involves day-to-day campaign management and optimization, innovation, best practice and team management skills.

The major focus areas are Google Ads and Amazon Ads - we can upskill you on the latter if needed.

You will lead a team of 4 other biddable specialists and be the senior contact for the client on biddable matters. You will be a key part of a wider cross-channel team covering SEO, PPC, Commerce, Affiliates, Analytics and Client Leadership as an integrated, unified collective.

Your Experience


  • Demonstrable experience in managing large paid Paid Search accounts
  • Strong knowledge of Google Ads, SA360
  • Advanced Google Analytics knowledge
  • Demonstrable experience of managing multiple stakeholders/projects simultaneously
  • Understanding of how biddable channels fit into the wider digital marketing mix, and how it impacts / is impacted by other channels
  • Fully confident in use of Excel, including pivot tables, reporting and analysis uses
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presenting confidently and owning the room
  • Cool under pressure, a people person who can work with clients and internal teams to great effect
  • Proactive individual, able to bring new ideas to the table in areas such as activation, team processes, client processes, technology & automation
  • Developed understanding of tracking and attribution 


These skills would be helpful in the role, but if they're lacking don't worry: we have training programmes in place:

  • Amazon Ads experience
  • Experience using third party eRetail / commerce tools (Pacvue, Skai or M19)
  • Experience in feeding into cross-channel plans
  • Previous line management experience
  • Knowledge of Google Merchant Centre, Google Data Studio
  • FMCG experience

The Account Director will be responsible for paid search and commerce activity for a major FMCG account, focussed on delivering excellence in execution, guided by a dynamic strategy that you will own. 

Responsibilities will include: 

  • Understanding of clients’ business objectives & translation of these into media plans/campaigns with focus on performance
  • Work with the wider biddable team to develop and grow new starters, and manage the development of one or more Account Executives
  • Innovative strategic thinking on all client activity; to be one step ahead
  • Day to day contact with clients and key partners (Google, Amazon, Pacvue, Adthena)
  • Work with Google and Amazon to ensure Neo accounts are the first the market with betas and innovation
  • Produce reports illustrating campaign performance, that contain genuine insights
  • Drive forward recommendations on optimal paid search partners and create strategic roadmaps
  • Work with other teams to ensure smooth running of day-to-day activities e.g. digital media teams and account teams across the WPP network
  • Communicate on a professional level both internally and externally at all times
