It is an incredibly exciting and strategically pivotal year for NOWTV, Sky Mobile and Sky Broadband as each product group plans to accelerate growth in their respective markets coming out of a tumultuous yet solid 2020. This is a unique opportunity to work across sector (entertainment and telecommunications) under the same company group.

Sky Mobile is the UK network that puts customers in control. They can roll over all their unused data, swap their phone each year, and tailor their plan whenever they like. A challenger is its market, Sky Mobile growth is fast putting it in contention with traditional MVNOs and is on track to hit 2m customers in Q1 2021 with even more aggressive growth targets set out for the rest of the year.


Sky Broadband was the first in the UK to offer unlimited broadband because they’re passionate about giving customers limitless connection to the things they love. Fast forward to now, Sky Broadband is fast enough for box-set marathons and non-stop gaming. And their broadband even turns Sky Q boxes into WiFi boosters, stretching your WiFi further around your home.


NOW TV is a streaming service that brings you the movies, shows and sports you want, when you want. All you need to get started is an internet connection and a compatible device. You can watch on loads of devices, including tablets, smartphones and games consoles, plus our very own NOW TV Smart Stick. NOWTV had an extremely strong 2020 and is a key growth driver across the Sky Group with even bigger ambitions for increasing its share of the streaming marketing in 2021.


Each product is increasing spend in 2021 taking the total investment responsibility of this role to in excess of £130m and is facing into different communications challenges in response to their individual markets and respective product life stages. All three products however are unified in their ask for digital and idea-first fully integrated communications plans that are built in partnership with creative, digital and social partners. In 2020 we proto-typed a new, collaborative way of working on the TV product-side of the business that has transformed the shape and output of our work. We are determined to replicate the rigour, creativity and effectiveness of this process across NOWTV, Mobile and Broadband this year.


The Business Director is the key role within the team and will be the client lead who can make this account their own.    We need someone dynamic, passionate & brilliant at developing client relationships.  This role will be part of a senior team working with the Managing Partner, Partner and Digital Director.  We will have a huge focus on innovation & digital excellence and this role will be a brilliant opportunity to develop the wholebrain approach that is central to the agency vision.  The BD will also be part of the BG6 leadership team who meet weekly and work together as a collaborative team on cross


The team reporting into the BD on this will be 3 Planning ADs, 3 Planning Managers as well as, SPB/PB resource, with dotted lines from the accelerators who will be embedded in the planning team as well as the wider team in investment, digital & implementation. 



The FTC Business Director role within MediaCom

Key Areas of Responsibility and Accountability:


  1. Client Leadership


  • Development and ongoing ownership of Growth plan for every client
  • Overall responsibility for ‘The Work’ - ensure all plans that exit the building are 1st class
  • Systems planning - implement the ‘Super 6’ across all clients & full compliance with use of ‘The System’
  • Accountable for the financial forecasting for Clients – eg Hyperion 
  • Oversee work that is shortlisted for Campaign / Media Week for creativity, content, and data
  • Strong relationships with key media owners to deliver brilliant partnerships for clients
  • Understanding and ownership of contractual terms of business for all clients
  • SLAs 100% completed and forecast bonus achieved
  • Clear articulation of the client’s business issue for all accounts
  • Debtors and Unbilled within acceptable tolerance limits as set by CFO
  • Clear and actionable plan to deliver Project Green and ensure recommendation scores of 8/10 for our clients 


  1. People Leadership


  • BGLT - be an active member of the leadership team with a clear understanding of your individual role within the, responsible for delivery against agreed BG workstreams
  • Build supportive and collaborative team culture to help everyone produce work they are proud of
  • Ensure every member of the team have up to date and relevant personal objectives and KPIs
  • Manage team resource requirements and talent deployment across the client team & working with the Head of Business Group on these requirements across the total Group
  • Ensure up to date and appropriate training & development plans to grow talent
  • Succession planning throughout team that provides direction and growth
  • Ensure the full team is integrated with buying teams to ensure trading commitments are delivered
