MediaCom is looking for a Global Business Director, for a portfolio of Maisons in the Richemont Group .

We are looking for a dynamic, passionate, globally and digitally experienced and minded leader (especially performance marketing, e-commerce) with extensive brand management experience (preferably in Luxury) to lead a global business unit team at MediaCom. Ideally being based in Paris working directly with most senior execs at the Maisons, as well as the extended MediaCom teams around the world, across more than 30 markets.

Richemont is a top-10 global client for MediaCom.

This role requires you to be a true guardian of the Maisons at a global level and hold a strong and positive partner relationship with Maison HQ senior leadership and the Maisons’ Media global teams. Together with the respective MediaCom global team, regional and market teams, you would need to have an acute ability in identifying how changes in media, political and technological landscape, as well as new and future purchase behaviours, would impact a Maison and its communications, and be the one to advocate agility, entrepreneurial spirit and operational excellence in this agency-client relationship across the world.

You should be an effective communicator, highly eloquent in spoken and written English and fluency in French is also an asset. Working alongside other global and regional specialists in the area of Digital, Data & Analytics, Strategy and Investment, you will need to be comfortable in navigating across disciplines to provide an integrated point-of-view and recommendation to the Maisons based on your understanding of their business requirements and structure.

As situations require, you would be unafraid to dive in to resolve the issues by identifying the best solution for the Maisons. You will be ultimately responsible and accountable for the quality of product, service and delivery in the MediaCom Richemont markets globally.

Reporting of the role

 

This role reports to the MediaCom Global Account Director for Richemont (based in Paris) and with communication and accountability to the MediaCom global and France agency leadership as required.

  • Bi-annual client satisfaction survey globally, regionally, and locally

Measures of success:

  • Build strong positive trusted relationships with key HQ execs and senior media team at the Maisons in Paris and beyond with an emphasis on China, US, and the Middle East
  • Quickly get to know your own team members around the world and establish a regular cadence of communications and team ways of working as well as mentorship and guidance.
  • Establish an initial work plan for the coming 3/6/12 months to deliver excellence and growth
  • Establish yourself as the central focal point of the Maison client team adding value to the regions and markets
  • Create a strong and united media culture around the world with the aim of making the MediaCom Richemont team a destination for best-in-class talent equipping it with a strong, passionate talent with a clear journey towards greater capability in e-com, data, tech
  • Build a strong working knowledge of China as a unique and important market
  • Show leadership and capability in digital transformation in areas such as e-com, performance marketing, data strategy and technology working very closely with the global digital lead in the Richemont team.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Client leadership

  • Maison-centricity. Always thinking and evaluating situations from the perspective of the Maison
  • Engage with senior-level Maison Media leaders to deliver media solutions that effectively, efficiently build business and brand value. Build relationships based on trust and real partnerships
  • Lead and drive best in class thought leadership in key areas in media , industry issues and in the intersection with luxury making this accessible and relevant to Maison media contacts
  • Draw up on the resources of MediaCom and WPP accessing expertise as required and appropriate
  • Involved in regions/markets’ planning process for key campaigns / periods to ensure quality output and provide senior guidance
  • Key contact across the entire planning cycle for senior brand clients and media directors / managers
  • Sharing of best practice and workshops with the clients
     

Internal development

  • Ensuring training and upskilling of level of know-how in the areas of planning and operations, with the support of Strategy Lead and Digital Manager
  • Ensure strong and close relationship and knowledge of all MediaCom capabilities and vision
  • Build close relationship with MediaCom regional and market leads to ensure they are well-supported and have clear understanding on the expectations of deliverables
  • Responsible for team motivation and agency vision alignment

 

 

You should possess:

  • Minimum 10 to 15 years’ experience (in global or regional leadership capacity in relevant industry/ies
  • Familiar with all forms of media and has experience in providing integrated planning recommendations
  • Strong leadership and operational ability.
  • An effective communicator who can articulate thoughts in a clear and concise manner to both local and global stakeholders across all levels
  • Possess an excellent command of English and French
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • A genuine passion in Client Leadership – nurturing relationships with senior stakeholders of global luxury brands and constantly deliver towards their best interest
  • Possess a “can-do” attitude and a continuous desire to challenge the norm
  • Strong people management skills, able to adapt your working style according to the different personas in your team and be an effective mentor
  • A passion for Luxury (watches/ jewellery / fashion) and experience is a plus, but not a mandatory
  • A mindset that the global team “works for the regions and markets” not vice versa
  • Be comfortable working in matrix management structures
