About the Role

Job Title: Account Manager

Reporting to: Account Director (HM Government), Client Lead (Edgewell)

Role Context:

The successful candidate will be working across Edgewell, DfT, DWP & MaPS

The role offers opportunity to innovate and build expertise across a wide range of communications channels, with the clients open to testing and learning from new platforms, audiences and tactics. It will involve consumer insight, strategic and implementational media planning, client handling and account management.

The brand portfolio of Edgewell, combined with the challenging and dynamic HM Government planning accounts ensures a diverse and growth-focused role.

DWP is the UK’s largest public service department, responsible for welfare, benefits and the administration of pensions. Our primary focus in 2021 is to provide information and support to those negatively impacted by the pandemic, and support people back into work. MaPS (Money and Pension Service) provides free money guidance and debt advice and are soon to launch the consumer facing brand ‘Money Helper’ to consolidate the services, Money Advice Service, Pension Advisory Service and Pension Wise.

The Department for Transport (DfT) runs a number of campaigns, but the focus of its communications is around the THINK! brand, with activity designed to reduce the number of people killed or seriously injured (KSI) on the road.  Recent activity has been aimed at a young, male audience, the group which is most likely to have an accident.  It is a very motivating brand to work with, as the team are genuinely doing work with the objective of saving lives

Edgewell owns a number of challenger brands within the FMGC category (incl. Wilkinson Sword, Hawaiian Tropic) and as such the client is more open to try new things than more established advertisers. For example, partnerships sits at the core of Edgewell’s communication (see the award winning Wilkinson Sword partnership with London Evening Standard), which will allow the AM to work alongside WM Content to oversee the project management of activations, as well working with more traditional disciplines like TV, OOH and digital.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct client service, with regular contact via weekly calls, campaign briefings and on-going email communication
  • Develop and apply thorough knowledge of client’s business, main competitors’ activity, category news and trends
  • Manage assigned campaigns, leading the media response with a strong desire to deliver the best work possible, with accuracy and depth
  • Assist the Account Director/Strategy Lead in setting the strategic approach for campaign briefs and media planning
  • Produce detailed analysis of audience insights and trends, consumer & purchase journeys and apply to planning
  • Project manage and coordinate multiple stakeholders in respect of agreed timelines, liaising with all activation teams (WM content, AV, digital, etc)
  • Develop trusted client relationships; demonstrate thorough understanding of clients’ business to land key recommendations
  • Manage direct report (Account Executive), ensuring they develop and take ownership of key client deliverables, like competitive reporting and newsletters
  • Own key aspects of client reporting and campaign management – including scheduling, management and completion of PCAs, status reports and live campaign updates
  • Identify client challenges and provide prompt feedback to line manager in order to continually improve client relationships and work quality
  • Identify relevant testing opportunities across appropriate channels and build these into client responses
  • Contribute to materials required for regular internal and client meetings
  • Ongoing liaison with other agencies (incl. creative, buying, PR) on all activity, ensuring integrated comms plans are delivered to the client
  • Owner of the client’s media Schematic, regularly updating it to reflect movements in budget and spend across the year
  • Ensure financial process is adhered to and budgets are managed effectively across campaigns
  • Maintain relationships with key media owners to continuously uncover new opportunities for clients

 

The Candidate:

  • The ideal candidate will have the ability to lead small to medium sized campaigns independently, whilst managing other specialist teams to ensure true integration and collaboration
  • An experienced manager, proactive and willing to develop and implement innovative media solutions; Confident in their approach and ready to present and support recommendations to a variety of stakeholders
  • Thorough media knowledge across online and offline channels; Sound understanding of planning principles
  • Leadership, communication, and organisation skills
  • Experience in line-management preferred: setting objectives, management, motivation, and development
  • Ability to manage and prioritise multiple workstreams
  • Strong attention to detail, delivering quality work
  • An interest in current affairs and events
  • A pro-active attitude to learn new things and positivity about taking on new challenges
