The Role Objective

 

Managing cash and net working capital performance is very important to the GroupM EMEA business and the wider WPP Group. GroupM EMEA are now looking to appoint an individual who will be responsible for managing Net Working Capital performance across the GroupM EMEA portfolio reporting to the GroupM EMEA CFO and working closely with the Regional Commercial Team and Senior Finance leadership in each market.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Monitor NWC performance across the GroupM EMEA portfolio
    • Review in conjunction with the country teams monthly performance and prepare summary for senior management
    • Where appropriate and for key markets track performance throughout the month and intervene / drive actions as appropriate
    • Lead review calls with Country CFO’s and Regional CFO to review and discuss performance
    • Monitor progress against delivery of agreed action plans
    • Update and explain GroupM EMEA NWC performance to senior management – GroupM Regional, Global and WPP

 

  • Identify and manage opportunities to improve NWC performance
    • Identify Countries / Agencies where performance is deteriorating, understand why, and agree actions to correct
    • Regular visits to markets / Agencies to review performance and work with local teams to develop and manage action plans to improve
    • Oversee progress against actions and track improvement benefits
    • Where appropriate work with Financeplus to ensure service in line with expectations
    • Identify key clients impacting NWC performance across the region and work with local / regional management to identify improvement actions

 

  • Develop a cash culture and increased NWC awareness across GroupM EMEA
    • Build NWC awareness across GroupM EMEA – training, communications etc
    • Refresh and review application of relevant policies
    • Share good practice across GroupM EMEA
    • Act as a conduit for sharing information with the wider GroupM and WPP Treasury team
  • Develop skills and build knowledge / tools etc
    • Run training sessions as appropriate to communicate importance of NWC and key areas of focus / good practice
    • Develop / tailor appropriate materials or tools that will help Agencies understand and manage performance

 

  • Integration with other initiatives
    • Link with other relevant initiatives to ensure NWC considerations factored in ie new finance systems deployment, automation solutions, SSC roll out

 

 

Skills and Behaviours

 

  • Experienced finance professional with a minimum of 8 years post qualification experience who understand the components of net working capital
  • Appropriate professional qualification
  • Strong communicator  
  • The candidate will need to demonstrate the ability to engage with, influence and build strong relationships with a variety of people across the business including senior management
  • Individual will need to be a ‘self starter’ and flex workload and approach based on specific circumstances / issues
  • Experience in presenting findings and analysis clearly in reports and presentations, driving action to resolve identified issues
  • Contribute to a range of projects and initiatives that touch or impact NWC
  • Preferably good understanding of the GroupM business model in relation to media buying, billing and payment
