Overview of role 

The core objective of this role is to deliver excellent work for our clients through entertainment, delivering strong business and brand outcomes, as well as driving incremental revenue for Mediacom. 

The Global Associate Director, Entertainment will serve as a senior member of the Global S&E team within Creative Systems. The client work will be a mix of retained and project based both pan regionally from our Worldwide client teams, and supporting and often leading work, initiatives across other markets, with a primary focus on the U.S, UK, Germany, China and Australia in support of the Director of Entertainment. 

The ideal candidate for this role must have a deep understanding and perspective on Entertainment that spans across TV, film and music as primary pillars, with a good level of contacts at some of the major players in these fields, or at least a good understanding of how they operate both creatively and commercially. Alongside this, the candidate will also need a strong understanding and extensive experience of media, publisher and platform partnerships in addition to partnering with entertainment companies with good business acumen. Brand to brand partnerships will also form part of the role, with a view to bringing together WPP clients co co-create, co-market or co-innovate. 

Are you able to articulate why a music partnership differs from an entertainment or sport partnership? Or the different outcomes of an ad funded program vs an unscripted documentary? Are you also able to manage property, brand, and inter-agency relations at once in a commanding and calm manner? Are you able to develop creative ideas, pitch, close and negotiate complex and high value deals? Do you have the gravitas to present to senior clients and stakeholders, sometimes outside of your direct responsibilities?

The role won’t mean working alone, you will have support from senior department leaders, peers, team support and a multitude of stakeholders in Mediacom across planning, data, investment, commercial, legal and more.

Measures of success 

In three months, you would have:

  • Started to settle into the role well, have an understanding of how Creative Systems and Mediacom operates and who the main key stakeholders are. Involved in a few live briefs and developing 3rd party contacts. 

In six months, you would have:

  • Have an in-depth knowledge of how the agency operates, built out a solid network of contacts across Film, TV and Music and have worked on several pitches, ideally closing 1. 

In 12 months, you would have:

  • Be in total command of your role, successfully contributed towards the team and department’s business objectives, and successfully built a rich pipeline of business for the coming year.

Responsibilities of the role 

  • Build & maintain senior level internal and external relationships
  • Oversee selected MediaCom clients, as it pertains to new partnership opportunities, which will allow for increased revenue and profitability of existing client accounts
  • Directly lead retained S&E accounts while overseeing other project and consultative programs
  • Reporting into the Global Director of Entertainment you will be responsible to provide regular client and program updates, while also managing more junior team members
  • Manage and inspire direct and indirect reports, providing mentoring and coaching to foster personal development
  • Achieve revenue and profitability targets as defined and agreed to with executive management 
  • Support MediaCom client leaders with information, data, ideas, POVs, etc. in and around the S&E Partnership space
  • Drive integrated thinking and solutions for clients in partnership with other disciplines
  • Maintain and build industry relationships and contacts
  • Participate in Creative System creative brainstorming sessions and MediaCom client briefs

Qualifications and Experience: 

  • Substantial Entertainment experience with an emphasis on entertainment partnerships
  • Created, negotiated, and managed multiple entertainment & IP partnerships
  • A good level of understanding of strategic and creative selling
  • Strong understanding of Media and Content channels
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver outstanding client work, that achieves client goals, wins a place on the agency’s show reel and garners industry-wide recognition
  • Extensive account management background at a senior level, understanding how to develop organic & new business growth
  • Deep negotiation experience across multitude of property-types, inclusive of driving final long form agreements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication & presentation skills
