We have newly created a role for a Senior Operations Manager who will do a dual role across the UK and EMEA. They will be responsible for cross agency stakeholder delivery on Whirlpool EMEA for 50% of the time and work alongside the Head of Operations in the UK for the other 50% of the role. It’s an opportunity for someone looking to progress in an operational capacity with exposure to both m/SIX and the wider WPP business across EMEA. We are looking for has a proven record of accomplishment in project delivery, campaign and clear process management. The candidate will have developed some project management skills in their previous roles, and they will have a working knowledge of how a media agency operates.

We are looking for someone who can manage a number of projects ranging from media tools audits, system onboarding across markets, client on-boarding processes project prioritisation and driving connections between teams.

Ideally, the right candidate also has experience or a working knowledge of media campaign activation process (Prisma, Media Ocean, DV360, Facebook etc) and possesses the ability to troubleshoot issues arising in processes and platforms.

There is scope for European travel in this role when restrictions lift.

Responsibilities of the role:

  • Runs triage & Status and manages brief flow and project prioritisation
  • Builds a project pipeline and ensures all projects are captured in trackers & status maintained for quick reference
  • Ensures lessons learnt from projects with poor profitability are fed into a continuous improvement model for ways of working monitoring and delivering projects
  • Collaborates with Whirlpool client to understand Whirlpool stakeholder deadlines and annual planning and marketing rhythm to determine WPP response times and project cadence
  • Supports teams to secure resource in the right places
  • Manages the day-to-day workload and completion of business tasks across the Operations team (writing and circulating process, ensuring data is captured from agency in a timely manner etc)
  • Working alongside the Head of Operations to deliver sufficient documentation and process for the agency
  • Escalation point for internal stakeholders
  • Collaboration and relationship building with internal and external counterparts (Tech, Buying, Planning, Finance and Media Owners) to ensure all plans are implemented efficiently and on time
  • Owning monthly finance process with our credit controller and ironing out process as well as reporting back with improvements
  • Operational system developments and migrations
  • Support team morale across the agency, deliverables, workload balancing and development
  • Working collaboratively to find solutions for agile working and instilling best ways of working across the agency and EMEA


What you will need:

  • Team player with a solution focused and customer centric attitude
  • A strong media background, with a good understanding of media agency functions
  • Evidence of operational experience and project management
  • Must be very results orientated and able to manage up
  • A change agent and influencer
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships.
  • A good people networker who is comfortable leading conversations with senior teams.
  • Strong prioritisation, organisational and time management skills
  • Process minded with the ability to set, monitor and support existing workflows
  • Ability to drive operational best practice across the wider team; proven track record in influencing and implementing process improvement
  • Competent in Excel and data analysis (experience in Power BI would be welcomed)
  • A good administrator
  • Good problem-solving skills and the ability to solve escalated issues for timely resolution

Measures of success –
In three months, you would have:

  • Developed strong working relationships with Head of Operations in the UK as well as internal and external stakeholders
  • You will be supporting the regional lead and commercial lead of Whirlpool to oversee profitability of projects
  • Become an expert in internal processes and ways of working, and be effectively managing the output of the Ops team
  • Owning the monthly financial reconciliation process of campaigns across the digital team and be managing and educating individuals in that process (eg. monthly system inductions to the agency)
  • Have made input into the annual plan and adopted projects to deliver on that plan

In six months, you would have:

  • Be leading project pipeline which helps forecast revenue and resource requirements for 4wks/3mths/12mths
  • Been consistently demonstrating your efficacy as the escalation point for the Ops team and internal stakeholders across UK and EMEA
  • Completed an audit of the needs within the agency activation teams (planning and buying)
  • Been defining operational best practice across the wider agency; proactively suggesting and implementing process improvement
  • Worked closely with departmental management to fulfil change projects across the business.
