Role context:

International Airlines Group has been a Wavemaker client for the last two years. Within this holding company we look after several brands; British Airways, Avios, LEVEL, IAG Cargo. 


This role will be within Team Horizon, a fully integrated team made up of specialists from media (Wavemaker), creative (Ogilvy) and production (Hogarth). We deliver campaigns for IAG across 10+ markets spanning the full media mix.


As an AD on the Horizon team you will have specific responsibility for leading a number of IAG brands and business units.


This is an exciting, fast paced role which will allow you to accelerate your media craft in a broad scope of disciplines whilst also growing your knowledge across the full comms mix.


You will be responsible for leading campaigns, approach and integrated response alongside your counterpart from the creative side of the team.  We are working in an agile way where media insight helps directly inform overall comms direction and leads to truly integrated work.


Through your excellent communication skills you will be expected to build strong relationships with numerous stakeholders both internally within Team Horizon and externally and will become the key client contact and trusted advisor on your brands.  This is an extremely unique opportunity on one of Britain’s best-loved brands.

Core Responsibilities:


  • Lead the planning output for your assigned verticals of the business, with the ambition to delivering the best work possible, with accuracy of detail and well thought out opinions and recommendations.


  • Be responsible for your team’s output, ensuring excellence in strategic approach and insight, innovative thinking and rigor of methodology


  • Create a positive environment to motivate and inspire the team to deliver brilliant basics and wow work.


  • Collaborative approach leading the integrated comms plan across media, creative and production


  • Form strong relationships with key clients and internal stakeholders


  • Represent and champion Horizon’s unique set-up and way of working within the wider agency


Your role will involve consumer insight, strategic and implementational media planning and, crucially, client handling and account management.


The ideal candidate will have the ability to lead a small planning team in the day to day running of the account whilst managing other specialist teams within the wider team Horizon, to ensure true integration.


The Account Director will need to be a confident communicator, able to manage both upwards and downwards and be ready to support their recommendations in front of a variety of stakeholders.


We are looking for someone who can inspire, motivate and always add immediate value to whatever they are involved in. 


We are seen by the clients as an extension of their marketing team and therefore the development of trusted client relationships is imperative, being able to demonstrate to the client a thorough understanding of their business to land key recommendations.
