The team

Our BI Solutions team are responsible for delivering industry-leading insight and analysis to our ever-growing client portfolio. We use the SQL stack to build rich databases, transforming and moulding data from a variety of sources, such as Google Analytics, GMP and client data. We then build this data into graphically engaging BI solutions that provide meaningful and relevant insights to our clients and internal teams. Also, you will be supporting business operations in the development of management tools and solutions to advance efficiency of our optimization and media planning teams

The job

In this business-critical role as a BI Developer, you will form an integral part of the team that are the gatekeepers of our most precious asset. You will work closely with other BI Developers to strengthen and maintain our data platform, building out ETL processes using SSIS or Python. You will utilise your experience and knowledge to help us develop a new data model and architecture to future-proof our deliverables, working closely with peers and stakeholders alike

You will have the determination to support the advancement of our BI and help us add even more value to our clients. You’ll support our internal and client teams where required and work closely with the rest of the BI Team to share ideas and best practice.

Individual Responsibilities
  • Translate business needs to technical specifications
  • Capability to design, build and deploy full-stack BI solutions:
    • APIs setup
    • Automation of data ingestion streams
    • Manage databases/datawarehouses
    • Build exploration layer on top of data
    • Design and deploy reports/dashboards
    • Develop and execute database queries and conduct ad-hoc analyses
  • Conduct unit testing and troubleshooting
  • Evaluate and improve existing BI systems
  • Collaborate with other teams to integrate systems (e.g. JIRA)
  • Develop and update technical documentation
  • Support the implementation of a hybrid “Cloud + On-premises” approach to GroupM’s BI roadmap
Qualifications and technical skills
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a BI SQL Stack Developer
  • Essential experience in T-SQL, SSIS, Excel, SSRS
  • Knowledge of Azure
  • Exposure to C#, TFS, Data Warehousing, Data Lakes
  • Experience of managing the full reporting lifecycle, from requirements gathering to specification creation, implementation and maintenance
  • Familiarity with DevOps processes
  • Knowledge of Source Control
  • Knowledge or experience of BI Visualisation tools such as Tableau/Power BI and an interest in data visualization as a means to improve communication

Desired Knowledge, skills and abilities
  • Some experience in project management methodology would be a bonus
  • Understanding of AWS and GCP is valued
  • Knowledge of web analytics platforms such as Google Analytics is advantageous
