Content Associate Director

 

 

The Role:

The Content Associate Director provides day-to-day leadership to their direct team and clients, while driving innovation across the wider Performance Content team. You will have extensive, proven, and detailed knowledge and experience in SEO content and organic visibility strategies. You must be able to take and distil client briefs, working with colleagues across the department and in the Planning Team to develop high calibre responses to briefs.

 

You will be responsible for the delivery of high-quality content strategies, driving performance, and creating meaningful relationships with clients. As well as on a personal level demonstrating leadership, the Content Associate Director will also demonstrate an increasing, outward passion to learn, both within the direct field of which the operate, but also across different media channels and touch points.

Key Responsibilities:

 

Client

  • Oversee content workflow across clients, being the senior contact for clients and responsible for implementation of strategy
  • Lead new business proposals and upsell pitches
  • Deliver high-level, integrated strategies for your clients
  • Independently create and deliver the most senior stakeholder presentations
  • Ensure performance objectives and KPIs are being met for clients, appropriately adapting strategies to support performance where necessary
  • Oversee delivery of major deliverables across team (Performance Content campaigns, blog schedules, strategies), supporting junior team to lead on these
  • Maintain strong, meaningful, and communicative relationships with planning team
  • Understand fully your client needs and deliver proactive solutions in response, confidently challenge the status quo where relevant
  • Champion and vouch for your client, always seeking to experiment and adopt breakthrough mindset
  • Oversee and be responsible for all outputs across your client set, including campaign management, results, client comms and invoicing etc.
  • Hold team to account to ensure high quality account management and planning processes across clients are maintained (e.g. WIPs, coverage tracking, roadmaps)

 

 

Team

  • Lead recruitment within sub-team
  • Provide written feedback, objectives and performance review for sub-team
  • Proactively plan and report on team allocation
  • Nurture strong relationships with the whole SEO team, planning, management teams and main client stakeholders
  • Manage team members with a mentoring mindset
  • Futureproof content capabilities through upskilling of execs across both Content and Digital PR teams
  • Continuously upskill as a manager, attending training and seeking opportunities to grow in this role
  • Challenge junior team members to exceed results targets and deliver good work across your client portfolio
  • Understand fully your team pressures, both directly addressing this and empowering team to combat these challenges
  • Delegate work within your team to ensure consistent and quality outputs, showing ability to manage both up and down
  • Support juniors outside of your immediate team, acting as a senior account lead for all organic functions and beyond

 

 

Innovation

  • Sign-off and manage implementation of new products and processes
  • Manage roadmap of new sellable products with pricing and collateral, with support from senior team members
  • Consistently sharing relevant industry updates
  • Grow team’s content strategy product and capabilities, in collaboration with digital PR leads
  • Drive opportunities to work with other channels across the agency to deliver best-practice breakthroughs
  • Spearhead use of AI across department, establish best-practice approach and increasing AI capabilities

 

Department

  • Support department / team lead on operations, for example allocation, resource planning, and team structures
  • Produce and manage team forecasts and growth plans
  • Continuously increase personal and department profile within agency
  • Proactively identify opportunities for and secure cross-sells and up-sells, including for Digital PR
  • Be directly involved in new business through participation in RFP response documents and new business pitches where required
  • Support SEO / PC director to implement department initiatives
  • Expand team's accolades, taking leading role on award entries, case studies, and sharing these across the agency
