As a Mid level Prototyper within our Prototyping and Innovation team, you'll have the chance to help develop cutting-edge prototypes across the whole WPP Media business. Working alongside experienced Senior Prototypers, as well as independently, you'll gain hands-on experience and enhance your skills in a collaborative environment.
We’re looking for a positive, code-first approach to problem solving, being comfortable with uncertainty, and a keen interest in how what we innovate on helps the business. You’ll be able to blend technical expertise with product thinking, data insights, and consultancy skills to deliver prototypes that solve real business problems
- Prototype Development: Design and implement prototypes with Python - including web applications, data pipelines, and machine learning models. Take ownership of medium to complex technical challenges and deliver solutions independently.
- Consulting and Product Mindset: A strong awareness of how what we develop aligns to wider business objectives - identifying areas of opportunity through bridging the gap between the technical, the product and the business requirements.
- Technical Growth: Continuously expand expertise in relevant technologies and frameworks. Share knowledge with junior team members while learning from senior prototypers. Begin taking on technical leadership responsibilities for smaller projects.
- User Interface Development: Build and deploy user-facing applications using tools like Streamlit, NiceGUI, or React frameworks. Create functional front-end interfaces that effectively showcase prototype capabilities and enable user interaction with data insights and models.
- Collaboration: Work effectively across the prototyping cell, coordinating with both junior and senior prototypers, as well as research and design teams. Translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
- Problem Solving: Independently solve technical challenges and propose creative solutions. Identify potential roadblocks and communicate them proactively to senior team members.
- Process Implementation: Apply and reinforce core prototyping principles, balancing speed and quality. Contribute to process improvements and help establish best practices.
What You Will Need
- 3-4 years of experience with data science, data centric software development or other data roles
- Demonstrated experience in prototype / rapid cycle development and deployment
- Strong Python programming skills with experience in cloud platforms
- Background in Data Science, Engineering, or Analytics
- Proficiency with multiple technical areas: plotting libraries, Python front-end frameworks or React, databases, LLMs, or APIs
- Experience contributing to technical documentation and code reviews
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently while knowing when to seek guidance
- Experience with product discovery and feature prioritisation
- Problem scoping and requirements gathering
