EssenceMediacom is an agency of GroupM, the world’s largest media investment company and are a part of WPP. In fact, we are responsible for one in every three ads you see globally. We are currently looking for Director - Strategy to join us. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the media mandates for some of the key clients for EssenceMediacom .Your understanding of inclination towards software’s for media planning & business reconciliation will be added advantage on as you’ll be leading an integrated team.

Reporting of the role
This role reports to: Chief Strategy Officer, EssenceMediacom
3 best things about the job:

1. Application of business growth models, brand maturity mapping and marketing frameworks to design a custom marketing roadmap for brands that will deliver ambitious business growth
2. Interaction with senior decision makers, CMOs and CEOs at client end to present the EM perspective and become a trusted partner in their growth plans
3. Input and integrate the work of cross-functional specialist teams on insights, activation, data and measurement to make sure it is addressing the strategic roadmap laid out for the business.

In this role, your goals will be:
In three months:
  • Bringing superior understanding of category, competitive landscape, best practices and growth models to the client businesses we handle. Eg: Rising data tariffs impacting GenZ content consumption and hence reduced impact of digital investments.
  • Distilling this understanding into implications for clients that marketing and media can drive Eg: New audience cohorts, frequency and type of messaging, winning in local markets vs Pan India.
  • Working with senior leadership at the agency to bring this to the client attention and presenting findings.
In six months:
  • 5 key client engagements with senior stakeholders delivering strategic roadmaps
  • Overseeing projects flowing from the roadmap, ensuring they are in line with strategy, integrating with cross-functional teams
  • Contributing to new business acquisition by scoping sectors and compelling narrative for EM.
  • Collating learnings and best practices for sharing across the agency
In 12 months:
  • Top 20 key client engagements with senior stakeholders with at least 8-10 projects being implemented with measurable KPIs
  • Breakthrough thinking case studies from the work done which demonstrate changes in approach and results delivered.

 What your day job looks like at GroupM: 
  • Collaborating with key agency leadership and account leads to identify upcoming initiatives and proactively suggest client engagements
  • Research, research, research! – Build a strong foundation that elevates discussions with senior clients
  • Collaborate with other disciplines to understand what they do, and bring them into the roadmap being designed
  • Oversee running projects and input in case of any bottlenecks from strategic POV
 What you’ll bring: 
  • Extremely well-read, well informed about marketing trends, having a strong pov on brand building, business models, growth cycles and emerging role of technology in marketing
  • Excellent editing and presentation skills – Drafting whitepapers, generating case studies, independently building a client-centric perspective, ability to confidently present to senior management
  • Extreme curiosity – investigating the why of something, being able to draw patterns and learnings from multiple industries and adjacencies
  • Optimistic and collaborative – Being able to successfully work across functions, disciplines while being seen as a valuable contributor and enabler
  • Disciplined and process-oriented
 Minimum qualifications:
  • 8-10 years with a consulting, market research, think-tank background with exposure to branding and marketing
  • MBA++ with marketing specialisation
  • Highly confident on technology and digital marketing space
  • Work experience in media/publishing/brand teams will be a bonus
