The Role 
We are seeking a skilled Google Cloud Platform Data Engineer to join our rapidly growing and ambitious team. Reporting to the General Manager for Engineering, you will be responsible for designing and building Marketing Analytics, Data Analytics, and Machine Learning solutions for GroupM clients. You will work closely with our internal consulting team and our client’s enterprise architecture stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions. 
 
This role would be working across a large financial services client and some fast food clients.
 
 
Ideal Candidate 
The ideal candidate is a passionate and hands-on Data Engineer with a proven track record of building and maintaining robust data pipelines on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). They possess a deep understanding of data warehousing principles and are proficient in developing ETL processes using tools like BigQuery, Dataflow, and Cloud Composer. Experience with marketing technology data, such as CRM, advertising platforms, and web analytics, is highly desirable. 
  
This individual is comfortable working with large datasets, optimizing query performance, and ensuring data quality. They are adept at translating business requirements into technical solutions and have a strong understanding of data modelling techniques. A desire to explore and implement cutting-edge GCP services to improve data processing efficiency and scalability is essential. The ideal candidate enjoys diving into the technical details and is eager to contribute to building innovative data solutions for our marketing technology clients. 
  
  
Responsibilities 
  • Design and build Google Cloud Platform solutions in the Marketing Analytics, Data Analytics, and Machine Learning specialisations 
  • Delivery of engineering projects, including setting up data pipelines, data warehouses, cloud infrastructure, and integrations 
  • Work closely with colleagues and clients to understand business needs and translate business requirements into technical solutions 
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) to support continuous delivery and deployment 
  • Designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable cloud-based systems and applications 
  • Participate in the development of technical documentation and project plans 
  • Work with cross-functional teams, including architects and project managers, to ensure successful delivery of projects 
  • Identify and implement best practices for cloud security, reliability, and performance 
  • Continuously improve your skills and stay up to date with industry trends and best practices 
Requirements   
Candidates will have at least 4+ years’ experience delivering data engineering solutions on Google Cloud Platform. We are looking for individuals who are self-starters, with a positive and forward-thinking mindset, ready for a fast-paced environment where they will face various tasks. 
  
  • Google Cloud Certification (in order of preference: Professional Data Engineer, Professional ML Engineer, Professional Cloud Architect) 
  • 4+ years of professional experience in designing and building Google Cloud Platform solutions in the Marketing Analytics, Data Analytics, and Machine Learning realm 
  • Experience developing solutions in Python (Apache Airflow, Apache Beam) and SQL 
  • Experience with GCP tools including BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Cloud Run & Cloud Functions and Cloud Composer 
  • Thorough knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices including Terraform, GitHub Actions 
  • Understanding of networking, security, and performance optimization in a cloud environment 
  • Knowledge of digital marketing and advertising concepts and tools 
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment 
  
Preferred Qualifications 
  • Google Cloud Certification (in order of preference: Professional Data Engineer, Professional ML Engineer, Professional Cloud Architect) 
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
