About the role:

In 2021 just over 7 million people in Australia were born overseas representing 27.6% of the population. Our Indigenous communities in Australia share a rich history spanning 60,000 one of the oldest civilisations, now representing 3.8% of the total Australia population. Today Australia is defined by its Aboriginal heritage and multitude of vibrant cultures, traditions, beliefs, and experiences. Embracing brand inclusivity is integral.

In this role you will work across some of the largest local and global brands, to plan cross channel campaigns with careful consideration to diverse audiences. You will be a champion of inclusivity. You will understand that brands who are able to connect with audiences on a deeper level are able to break stereotypes, and cliches creating a genuine connection with audiences.

A crucial part of this role is your ability to plan for diverse audiences. It is imperative to understand how our own biases, experiences and values shape our perception. We are looking for someone who is truly passionate about highlighting under or misrepresented groups in the execution of marketing strategies, and able to navigate the complexities that come with this.

What will make you stand out

  • With support of the Chief Strategy, Planning and Product Officers, build out our Inclusive planning product and champion it within the business.
  • Design, research, develop, recommend planning solutions for media campaigns that target and connect with diverse audiences.
  • Work closely with our dedicated planning team in the execution of diverse audience campaigns
  • Able to review current practices and policies at EssenceMediacom, to assess the extent to which they support or hinder our client’s ability to connect with diverse audiences.
  • Be aware of the cultural sensitivities around under or mispresented groups specifically within Australia, in relation to CALD and Indigenous communities.
  • Have existing relationships and act as company liaison with external groups within diverse communities.
  • Maintains knowledge of diversity-related issues, legislation, and best practices.
  • Expert in this speciality craft with the ability to act as the main point of contact to consult with EM’s internal client, planning and strategy teams across client briefs.
  • Provide thought leadership in the diverse space within the business and media industry
  • Positively contribute to creative workshops in the creation and execution of campaigns.
  • Present clear recommendations to clients based on in depth research utilising media research tools.
  • Provide regular reporting on audience data, audience behaviours, and marketing campaign performance.
