About the role

Investment involves defining our long term, global investment strategy, and establishing and maintaining strong and mutually profitable relationships with our suppliers which deliver on that strategy and creating the environment and framework within which Essence will get the best value (best quality and lowest price) from our suppliers.

To be the investment lead across key strategic suppliers and help evolve the department processes.

One-month measurement of success:

-Have a good understanding of the client’s business as well as the complex nature of Essence/our client relationship

-An understanding of the key procurement contacts and their responsibilities

-Have begun to create clear processes for buying requirements to help the team smoothly run operations


In three months:

-Built trust of key procurement contacts

-Have spent face to face time at our client helping resolve challenges

-Have delivered initial reports for our client on their key projects


In six months:

-Have strong relationships with markets and able to get responses quickly

-Become a key contributor to a presentation to our client showing our progress in buying and trading initiatives (working in partnership with GroupM investment teams)


In one year:

-Have contributed to a significant increase in Vantage scores from procurement clients

-Ownership of a new initiative that creates new value to our relationship with our client in relation to trading


What you will do:


Understand the digital marketplace through meeting with all suppliers in the market, identifying their strengths or weaknesses. Scrutinize them in order to have a perfect understanding of their business models and how they can help our planning teams and clients' objectives

Build relationships with key suppliers, to ensure the perfect communication flow is in place; increasing opportunities, reducing conflicts and ensuring best service and price

Take responsibility for development of all strategic partnerships with media suppliers, networks, DSPs, DMPs, technology vendors and other third parties.

Negotiate most competitive media rates, value added deals and packages for all teams across agencies.

Attend conferences and industry events to ensure you handle the latest information and trends of the market. Make yourself known in the industry circles to increase Essence self-awareness in the market


What you will bring:

A passion for all things digital - a strong understanding of industry trends and a thirst to drive (instead of just follow) digital innovations

A strong commercial negotiator - able to gauge good value for our clients and influence senior people within large media companies to deliver it

An ability to develop strong external and internal relationships, with a proactive and collaborative approach to working with people.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – both written and verbal.

Proven ability to motivate and develop staff and delegate effectively

Experience identifying opportunities for organizational/process/system improvements and supporting the development of robust solutions to realize them
