Senior BI Analyst

Job overview and primary objective

​As a consultant in data management, you will be working with Tableau, PowerBI, Adverity, Google Data Studio and Google Cloud to support the team, in building engaging visualisation of data, as well developing data pipelines and solutions to automatically QA the data for the client.

You will sit in a data/tech and analytics team, which is dedicated to Airbnb, however you will also be part of the BI/engineering central community. 

It is important to be a self starter and thinker. The work will be to provide an automated solution for all reporting across the Airbnb account, creating the data pipelines using our in-house proprietary platforms and designing, building and maintain a wide variety of reports to provide updates and insights to our client. It is important that the data we provide to our clients is correct, so at first, manual QA will be necessary to ensure everything is matching across the data sets. In parallel it is important to create automated QA solutions so that we have peace of mind that the data running is correct and flagged when there are issues with taxonomy, data quality and structure.

Once the pipelines and QA are in place, you will lead on the data visualisation build, this will follow a round of requirements gathering sessions with the client stakeholders to provide recommendations for the design of the visualizations and delivery of the data to demonstrate to the client that Essencemediacom’s campaigns are effective.

The project will be delivered in a few stages – once the data pipelines are set up, you will provide excel based reporting to remove the need for the planning and activation teams to create them. The build of the dashboards will come after that, creating them market by market for digital data only then will follow with offline data.

Your ability to work on raw data pipelines and to manipulate data in databases is important, as well as the understanding of the way the data needs to be calculated.

​You have an analytical mindset, a good level of mathematical and data handling ability and a passion for solving problems. Previous experience with data visualization tools is important (Tableau/PowerBI/Looker etc.).

In three months, you would have:

  • Understood existing tools and techniques and how the team integrates with the rest of the client team. Demonstrated a clear self starter attitude and contributed to delivery of projects.

 

In six months, you would have:

  • Gained a reputation of reliability and competent support of the BI and data engineering projects. Be very familiar with the wider client team, and how exactly data engineering delivers value within that.

 

In 12 months, you would have:

  • Worked closely with your data engineering and other data & tech colleagues to deliver best in class work, and be thinking about promotion to a level 3 position.

 

Responsibilities of the role

​Maintaining existing dashboards and ensuring robust output

 

​Working with dashboard users to ensure that reports are used and to expand our range of reports

 

​Visualising large datasets for understanding by a non-technical audience

 

​Recommending best-practices for data visualisation

 

​Designing interactive Tableau dashboards

 

Progressing towards building custom dashboard solutions for your 2 clients.

 

Supporting SAD data management in engineering tasks.

 

 

Key Skillsets

Essential:

 

​1-2 years in a reporting or dashboard building role

 

​Advanced Excel user and/or experience building with a web-based dashboard platform 

 

​Logical, problem solving mindset

An advantage, but not essential:

 

​Tableau experience

 

​Google Data Studio experience

 

​Experience with SQL

 

​Building data processing scripts in R or Python

 

​Experience of working with cloud databases, particularly BigQuery

 

Experience working with marketing and/or web analytics data
