The Head of Strategy in a Media Agency plays a crucial role in understanding the market and media

- Market and Media Landscape Understanding
• Market Analysis: Continuously analyze the market landscape to identify trends, opportunities,
and threats. Keep abreast of industry developments, emerging technologies, and shifts in
consumer behavior.
• Competitor Analysis: Conduct thorough competitor analysis to understand their strategies,
strengths, and weaknesses. Use this information to position the agency more effectively in the
market.
• Media Trends: Monitor and assess changes in media consumption patterns, new media
platforms, and innovations. Ensure the agency’s strategies are aligned with current and future
media trends.
2. Audience Insights and Strategy
• Audience Research: Oversee the collection and analysis of audience data to understand
demographics, psychographics, and behavioral patterns. Utilize quantitative and qualitative
research methods to gain deep insights into target audiences.
• Consumer Behavior: Analyze consumer behavior and preferences to tailor media strategies that
resonate with different segments. Leverage audience insights to drive effective connections and
engagement.
• Strategy Development: Develop and implement audience-centric strategies that drive brand
awareness, engagement, and conversion. Ensure strategies are data-driven and based on solid
research and insights.
3. Identifying Growth Opportunities
• Opportunity Identification: Identify and evaluate new business opportunities, including
emerging and growth audiences, new media channels, and partnership possibilities. Assess
potential for growth and profitability.
• Innovation: Foster a culture of innovation within Mindshare Encourage the exploration
of new ideas and strategies that can differentiate the agency and drive growth.
• Client Development: Work closely with clients to understand their needs and objectives. Identify
opportunities for upselling and cross-selling additional services that can contribute to their growth
and success.
4. Connecting and Integrating with Media Platforms
• Integration: Ensure seamless integration of media platforms into the agency’s strategies.
Coordinate with media planners, buyers, and creative teams to ensure cohesive and effective
campaign execution.
• Technology Utilization: Stay informed about the latest media technologies and tools. Evaluate
and implement relevant technologies to optimize media planning, buying, and measurement.
5. Team Leadership and Management
• Strategic Oversight: Lead and mentor the Communications Planning Team. Co-lead the Learning
Agenda together with the Head of Client Transformation to upskill the team. Ensure alignment
with overall agency goals and objectives.
• Collaboration: Foster collaboration across different teams within the agency, including creative,
media planning, and analytics, to ensure integrated and effective strategies.
6. Reporting and Communication
• Reporting: Develop and present reports on strategy performance, market insights, and growth
opportunities to senior management and clients. Ensure reports are clear, actionable, and data driven.
• Client Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with clients. Provide
strategic recommendations and updates on market trends and opportunities for improvement.
7. Strategic Planning and Execution
• Long-term Planning: Develop long-term strategic plans for the agency, aligning with overall
business goals. Set clear objectives and key results for strategic initiatives.
• Execution: Oversee the execution of strategic plans and ensure they are implemented effectively.
Address any issues or challenges that arise during execution and adjust strategies as needed.
