The Lowdown

As a Digital Manager you will be the heartbeat of the team and the main point of contact within the Digital team for clients and internal stakeholders. Your specialist skill and lead area will be either paid social, paid search or programmatic media, however this role encompasses holistically leading Digital strategy across all channels for your core client group. 

You’ll be putting together the most appropriate Digital strategy for each client, balancing investment levels between social, search and programmatic to make sure client KPIs are met. You’ll also be the bridge between the Digital team and the other teams in the agency, making sure our thinking is included in all relevant media plans and the best Digital solutions are presented to the clients.  Finally, you’ll manage, mentor and coach junior members of the Digital team, guiding their personal development and value to the Ikon business.



What’s your role –

You are responsible for campaign management and delivering exceptional results across your core group of Digital clients within the Brisbane office, across programmatic, paid social and search. Understanding client business goals, developing Digital media approaches to deliver on these goals and demonstrating proficiency in account management is your key focus.


You will be responsible for Digital campaigns as the client or client teams main point of contact, managing the team daily to exceed client expectations.   This entails instilling efficient working rhythms to foster an efficient team and take a hands-on role for top tier clients. You will be responsible for the success of all campaigns, making sure campaigns are align to business objectives, pushing boundaries and optimised to deliver Digital excellence.  You will manage the team to deliver insights and recommendations on each campaign to continuously and interactively improve Digital.

Digital expert:

  • Be a product expert in Digital channels, keeping up to date with recent industry developments
  • Be a trusted advisor for our internal teams on Digital channels, developments and the role these channels play for the client


Demonstrating excellent campaigns management and client servicing:

  • Take responsibility for the day to day operations of the client 
  • Support the Digital Director as the main Digital point of contact for the client and client leadership team
  • Apply best practice rigor to the planning and execution of campaigns
  • Attend all important internal and external meetings for this client
  • Provide outstanding levels of client service


Ownership of campaign management:

  • Effectively managing the work load for your clients
  • Leading the planning, execution and on-going management of campaigns
  • Take responsibility for the creation of media plans and best practice set up of campaigns to achieve specified KPIs
  • Carry out audits of existing campaigns to ensure they follow and adhere to best practice
  • Proactively performing regular optimization of accounts and identifying innovative development opportunities
  • Creating and leading the execution of development and testing plans including BETA where there is opportunity
  • Reviewing performance, providing actionable insights and recommendations for delivering performance efficiencies
  • Making full use of the technology and data available, implementing processes and practices that maximize operational and Digital efficiencies
  • Preparing presentations and articulately leading conference calls and face to face meetings
  • The accurate management of budgets adhering to finance process
  • Being innovative and proactive in your approach to managing campaigns and the team efficiently


Inspirational team management:

  • Lead by example, setting expectations and transferring your technical knowledge to junior team members
  • Identifying, facilitating and delivering training requirements
  • Provide guidance to your team in order to achieve role core competencies, exceed on their responsibilities and achieve their KPIs



In 3 months:

  • Met with each client, understood their business goals & demonstrated clear proficiency in account management
  • Taken responsibility for the prioritisation and management of the workload of the Digital team, instilling best practice operations
  • Autonomously leading and managing the bidding strategy and account optimisation, ensuring the best results are being achieved by the team, according to clients’ goals



In 6 months:

  • Managing an efficient and inspired team, with high quality of output, continually developing their competencies and knowledge to delivery market leading campaigns.
  • Be a Digital expert for IKON, recommending and presenting to clients and internal stakeholders on Digital best practice
  • Is leading campaign testing, innovation and constantly striving to improve Digital through free thinking and fluid ideas
  • Is involved with training and development of junior members of the Digital team
  • Evangelising Digital, keeping abreast of the changing landscape, delivering updates internally and externally, and uncovering new opportunities in market


In 12 months:

  • Supports the Digital directors to continually develop and activate Ikons Digital product
  • Taking full accountability for exceeding all client needs from a Digital perspective
  • Has established and confident knowledge in additional Digital media discipline i.e. paid social or programmatic
  • Aligns Digital media and above the line activity to allow for complete integration


And Beyond:

  • Consulting with digital & A&T managers within the agency, maintaining their confidence in Ikon’s Digital product
  • Proactively takes the lead on Digital initiatives to develop the team and product nationally
  • Contributing to internal and external PR by leading award-winning Digital media campaigns
  • Play a lead role in new business pitches where Digital channels are involved
