    2. You will work closely with GroupM China finance team, Essence APAC finance team and local business team leaders to oversee the business health of Essence China.
    3. You needs to assist with building out strong financial and operational processes, to own new and existing client contracting and negotiation procedures and take charge of financial budgeting, forecasting & reporting for Essence China. 

Measures of success –

Specific KPIs will be agreed after joining Essence China but key metrics for success in this area are:

  • Commercial influence of client team/finance
  • Delivery of management team’s growth plan for Essence China
  • Agency and client profitability
  • Improved extraction rates

Responsibilities of the role:

1. Periodical Client Profitability review

  • Set up mechanism to track revenue by client teams and by source of product revenue (Trading, Digital including search/social/display, media planning and buying, business planning, content creation, etc.)  This is key to accountability at a client lead level. 
  1. Develop Client/Vendor Contract Compliance
  • Develop a Check list for each client of what are our obligations on disclosures, retention of non-contracted income etc.
  1. Review and full control rebate pass back
  • In control of Rebate Schedule and ensure proper rebate pass back and maximize rebate retention
  1. Contract renewals and New Pitches
  • Advance notices and renegotiation to bring in Smart Contract clauses and / or New Standard Contract.
  • Develop a Checklist of contract clauses- based on Standard Contract/commercial guidance - Handout to key business leaders
  • Support new business pitches by performing client credit check/ preparing company credentials, etc.
  1. Update and improve on Client Audits – Media and Financial Audits.
  • Issues and resolutions with auditors
  • Best practices learned
  • Following the SOP circulated by GroupM.
  1. Develop Caveats/monitoring for media buying terms and conditions
  • In all media buying contracts to ensure that the agency’s obligations to media owners are not more severe than our clients’ obligations to us.
  • Work closely with finance and business team to keep remuneration/pitch commitment/commercial terms on track.
  1. Budgeting & NWC management
  • Quarterly rolling forecast/ Opportunity and risk control
  • AR/AP management and control to keep company in positive NWC status
  1. Monthly financial closing
  • Perform monthly cost/ revenue accrual report
  • Monthly analytics of actual vs. forecast
  1. Process Improvement
  • Partner across both business and functional teams and lead efforts around process improvement and operational efficiency

 What you will need:

  • Educated to bachelor’s degree level in the finance discipline. A master degree or higher qualification would be an additional benefit.
  • Minimum 3-4 years’ work experience with a solid and proven track record in agency commercial/ corporate finance operations in China.
  • Fluency in English is essential. The ability to communicate in Mandarin is also a must.
  • Financial acumen including budget control and client profitability
  • In depth knowledge of processes, tools and techniques
  • Client service skills, with an entrepreneurial mind-set and the ability to build relationships
  • Workflow management: organizational skills and time management
  • Project management, planning and implementation
  • Articulate, with excellent presentation skills and the ability to influence senior management both internal and external.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Strong business sense, great communication and presentation skills.
