Overview of job. 

Wavemaker is part of GroupM which is the world’s largest media investment company and are a part of WPP. In fact, we are responsible for one in every three ads you see globally. We are currently looking for a Strategy Lead to join us. You should have a strong track record in delivering tangible business results for clients, strong strategic skills, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and team members.

The position is to be part of the national strategy team reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer and coordinate capability building of the larger Wavemaker Team and partner with the business teams in the application of strategic thinking to client business. 

This will involve integrated capability in traditional & digital media, search and content marketing, communication with global teams & clients, knowledge of measurement and attribution and building team capability, to support business teams. The position requires an analytical and research mind to delve deep into the relationship between Brands, Consumers and Media and craft strategic solutions that solve real business problems for clients.

Reporting of the role

This role reports to the Chief Strategy Officer, Wavemaker.

Measures of success – 

In three months:

  • Build an acute understanding of the strategic products and services of Wavemaker
  • Build relationships with the key decision-makers at Wavemaker and client-side
  • Engage with stakeholders to drive the Wavemaker Proprietary way of application of media strategy

 In six months:

  • Develop a deep understanding and begin to use the Wavemaker planning product and tool
  • Proactively delivering additional value to the client, leading the team to successfully implement ideas that will improve the Wavemaker delivery and the client’s business outcomes.
  • Established as the strategic lead by both clients and the internal team alike

 In 12 months:

  • Considered a ‘strategic’ leader for the client and for Wavemaker, providing solutions that deliver a tangible business benefit for both client and agency.
  • Activating an engagement plan that delivers success to the client and secures Wavemaker's client relationship; leading client product initiatives.

What your day job looks like at GroupM:

  • Leading strategy Deployment with a team across India
  • Provide strategy communications and planning leadership on the client’s business across categories
  • Capability building of application of the strategic tools/ methods of Wavemaker by the relevant people across the business teams
  • Partner with the Client Leadership teams to build clear briefs and work with them to support the delivery of the briefs
  • Demonstrates strong understanding of consumers and consumer segmentation to derive insights
  • Communicate embedded learning to increase the impact of insights into action
  • Communicate complex ideas/insights in a way that all understand and apply
  • Familiarity with digital/ content/ audience science/ precision marketing/ measurement/ research/ analytics/ attribution/ e-commerce/ etc are desirable traits

 What you will need: 

  • Approx 15 years of experience spanning across media agency and research/ analytics
  • Demonstrate exposure and management of senior clients/ stakeholders
  • Exposure to strategic work spanning across multiple media. Better to have integrated media knowledge, including traditional media, and digital media
  • In-depth knowledge of market research function from a senior researcher point of view
  • Acute understanding of analytics and attribution and understanding of the approach to various analytical approaches etc to be used in media and attribution analytics
  • A view of the typical strategic media tools and their algorithms and application for evolving media strategy
  • Exposure to the standard media research databases and tools available to agencies in traditional and digital domains from an application perspective; exposure to various partners and data provides available in the media and communication industry
  • Self-motivated, creative and solutions focused. Our client is very open to trying new things and you can add real value through creative problem solving             
  • Team Player, Collaborative approach
  • Excellent written, spoken and presentation communication skills.
