About Media Planning at Essence

The Media Planning team at Essence are experts on the paid media landscape and how audiences interact with it. We architect, then steward, holistic media plans throughout their lifecycle - owning the creation of overall plans, cross-channel budget allocation, in-flight cross-channel reporting & optimisation, and post-campaign analysis. We are our clients’ key contacts for a unified view of their campaign ecosystem, narrating the story of the whole journey from planning recommendation through to post-campaign reporting and insights.


About the Role 

Our Media Planning Directors lead junior Planners to create and oversee the successful delivery of media campaigns. They demonstrate excellent knowledge of the overall media landscape and available research and past campaign data, using these to inform and communicate planning recommendations. They have oversight and responsibility for the day-to-day management of media plans and their proper implementation, working to fulfil the client’s media strategy and objectives in the context of changing market conditions. They are responsible for ensuring budget is used optimally to deliver the desired results, via effective planning, in-flight cross-channel optimisations, and insightful post campaign analysis with the help of the Data Strategy & Analytics teams to inform future campaigns. 


About the Client - Google Store (GStore)

Essence runs a regionally aligned evergreen performance campaign for Google’s D2C ecommerce shop front, Google Store out of our DR media centre of excellence in Singapore.  Our team, made up of Client Servicing, Media Planning, Activation, Analytics and AdOps work closely together to deliver multiple tactical campaigns every quarter, looking to maximise sales of Google’s various hardware products *such as Nest and Pixel).  We work hand-in-hand with our local market offices where Brand campaigns are planned and bought for these products to maximise sell through, so integration and collaboration is key to making this work.  We also work very closely with our partners at Google’s MediaLab to drive the team to adopt the most advanced ways of working and best practices available to the Google Marketing machine.


Some of the things we'd like you to do:

  • Oversight of all deliverables produced by pod/market, either by direct or delegated means Direct responsibility for the performance of assigned media dollars against their intended outcome, across DR objectives
  • Responsible for expressing the rationale behind media investment decisions and evidencing the performance versus expected outcomes 
  • Responsible for quality of Planning Milestone Meetings ( strategic/tactical presentations, post campaign analysis), playing a key role for priority campaigns 
  • Point of escalation for team issues (within and outside of team)
  • Process /workflow enhancement, growing Essence’s capability, increasing work quality, making us more efficient, or increasing Essential satisfaction
  • Responsible for setting quality standard for 1(+) planning deliverables and improving them via team/client feedback and incorporation of evolving external context 
  • Support new business pitches with leadership by developing plan/presentation
  • Assist with new client onboarding and play a large supporting role for Client Services  in ensuring the success of the new client
  • Thought leadership expressed as press quotes, published articles, and POVs
  • Accountable for external recognition and awards submissions, at least 1 per quarter
  • Manage 2-4 direct media planning reports to support career growth/development
  • Partnering with Client Service to balance capacity and profitability


A bit about yourself:

  • At least 8-10 years of working experience
  • 5 to 7 years’ experience in the Digital Media or Advertising field.  Specifically in ecommerce a major plus.
  • Ability to forecast  outcomes of DR campaigns and manage spend 
  • Experience with Media Research Tools (Comscore, GWI, TGI, YouGov) nice to have
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills across all platforms
  • Solid grasp of digital marketing, especially a deep knowledge of digital media
  • Ability to adhere to and meet deadlines and project manage multiple campaigns
  • Proven problem solving skills and ability to think outside of the box 
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate in a team environment
  • Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented and capable of multi-tasking
