Overview of job

GroupM is the world’s largest media investment company and is a part of WPP. In fact, we are responsible for one in every three ads you see globally. We are currently looking for a Business Group Head to join us.

In this role, you will be responsible to manage and coordinate with various GroupM agency stakeholders to sell Matrix products. Relationship management will be critical and you will need to demonstrate the ability to be responsible and accountable to the task at hand. You will play a multifaceted role in terms of dealing with sales with various stakeholders and ensuring flawless implementation through coordination with backend teams

  1. An environment wherein knowledge of Print, TV, Radio, Digital and Content would be added to the skillset. The candidate will have some prior knowledge of all mediums and enhance the skill set with an understanding of the partner product and deal structures. The candidate will also be in constant touch with partners at a regional level to have an in-depth understanding of the media environment in terms of demand and supply of products
  2. Interacting with Planners and Buyers across GroupM – the biggest agency in India – and understand client and campaign needs to fit in Matrix products wherever suitability lies
  3. Working on the top clients across verticals and mediums will give you an in-depth understanding of media

In this role, your goals will be:
In three months:

  • To establish a solid rapport with the different stakeholders
  • Understand the concept of Matrix and its importance
  • Understand where products available under Matrix and their respective benefits

In six months:

  • A clear understanding of all clients and brands under Group M in West.
  • Liaison with different media houses to ensure Group M clients campaign satisfaction
  • Proactively pitch products while campaign plans are being discussed and get conversions

In 12 months:

  • Strategize on how to make Matrix sell better with a clear POV
  • Understand the visions of clients and brands going forward and be skill ready to service the same
  • Build plans in coordination with different teams to capitalize on overall benefits based on long term benefits.
  • Build on insights and suggest solutions creatively to maximize products available with matrix

What your day job looks like at GroupM:

  • You will be working across partner publications and media houses
  • The job would entail interacting at different levels across agencies
  • Pitching and then pushing for closures on the same.
  • You would be working similarly on TV, Digital, Print and Radio products available with Matrix.
  • The idea again is that you would need to build a relationship with various stakeholders of the business – create sale through logical explanation basis Reach and other deliverables took into consideration while planning for campaigns

What you’ll bring:

  • Interacting with Planners and Buyers across GroupM– the biggest agency in India. This creates a great platform to understand the sensibilities involved whilst planning – and take that learning into consideration while making relevant pitches
  • Knowing the pulse of various media campaigns and to be up-to-date with Media happenings.
  • You would need to be at the right time and at the right place to plug in products wherever there are requirements and wherein they make sense keeping the overall objective of the campaign intact

Minimum qualifications:

  • Quick learner, good presentation skills, and confident
  • Open to long working hours if the situation so demands
  • 5-7 years of media sales experience
  • Client/Agency relationships exposure and strong relationship management skills
  • Keen attention to detail and good at spotting opportunities
  • Go-getter attitude and responsibility to close all loops
