Overview of job 

You will manage and lead EssenceMediacom Philippines operation including the development of the brand, drive the efficiency and profitability of the business, mentor of talent, oversee and grow both existing client relationships and new business initiatives.

As an EXCO member of GroupM Philippines, you will contribute to the overall growth and success of GroupM Philippines.

Reporting of the role

This role reports to the GroupM CEO, Philippines and EssenceMediacom CEO, APAC.

In three months, you would have:

  • Unlock the next stage of growth and the future potential of our business and people through the development of our talent, and the expansion of our commercial offering and the continued scale and reputation of EssenceMediacom in the market.
  • Become the public and most senior face of our organization to clients, staff and our media and technology partners.

In six months, you would have:

  • Drive collaboration, manage and be responsible for the P&L.
  • Lead our trading, finance, operations, and talent functions to meet their financial and business goals and optimise their performance.

In 12 months, you would have:

  • Closely collaborate with regional agency leadership to ensure delivery of the agency strategic objectives within the overall financial and strategic objectives of EssenceMediacom Philippines.

Responsibilities of the role:

The Managing Director, EssenceMediacom Philippines drives the agency vision, strategy and business operations forward in the region. The position is responsible for the financial performance of the agency including revenue growth, quality of revenue streams, costs management and profitability in accordance with company’s guidelines and established financial metrics.

The position facilitates and leads new business activities in the market in conjunction with other units of GroupM such as Trading, Digital Services, etc. as well as EssenceMediacom regional and global network. The position is a referral point for new business calls.

The position is responsible for account team structuring and client relationship management. This includes the stewardship and development of senior client relationships either personally or in mentoring/supporting client teams in their relationship management.

The position takes the lead informing task forces and guiding the teams to develop new marketing services and products for clients to improve business results and satisfaction of clients, meanwhile, bring new income for EssenceMediacom.

The position is the representative of EssenceMediacom in the Philippines market and is responsible for managing the reputation of the company through marketing and PR EssenceMediacom’s brand.

The position leads EssenceMediacom’s business operations and in partnership with GroupM’s human resource and finance team, oversees business management, A/R collections, compliance of company’s policies, staff talent and retention policies, etc.

Financial - Achieve financial targets set by the management in revenue and operation profit with compliance of company policies and procedures, as well as financial metrics.

People – Ensure sufficient talent in the team to support business requirement and lead talent management initiatives to grow and retain our talent with 80% retention rate.

Client – Establish account team and client relationships management structure to meet and exceed expectation of clients, and personally develop senior client relationships to sustain and grow business.

Marketing – In conjunction with regional and global management teams of EssenceMediacom and GroupM, implement marketing activities to promote EssenceMediacom.

What you will need:

  • Experience building senior client relationships.
  • Strong ‘presence’ as a leader – the sort of person who others naturally listen to
  • Media industry experience a bonus but not essential. We will consider candidates from other marketing service backgrounds who have solid experience and other attributes.
  • Credibility to talk with senior clients beyond media issues and have a qualified and respected point of view about broader marketing and business issues.
  • Ability to build rapport with others easily and quickly get along with people.
  • Willingness and openness to learn and adapt to new things.
  • Energy, drive and perseverance to make a difference.
